Bilco Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 For those interested, any birds heldover in France this weekend won't get away till Tuesday, when they should have a good race. Winds on Tuesday are forecast to be westerly, about 6mph. Cheers, Bill.
martin dunks Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 lets hope some of the birds thrown away on saturday can make it home with the improved weather on tuesday
mac1 Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 hope my six pigeons get home ok on tuesday three of them are my best distance hens
Roland Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Last BICC race we had 3 in top 200 none of which were here this morning. Have had two come in the rain today. We had two last night clocked at 6.15 pm 107th I think. We are 20 short from 26. Are you sure the BICC had a good race. Not for you obviously ... But was repeating from a Committee members, and the returns etc. from a INLAND marking station ... I think the MNFC got it wholly wrong liberating far too early and not waiting for the cloud and mist that was clearly in the east of the Channel to pass on. – I put four in the clock within 27 minutes so should have four in the top hundred or thereabouts, and with a record send of 4,689 I fairly pleased
Bad Trapper Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Lot of fanciers I know have nearly 60 to 70% of their teams missing from the MNFC Falaise seems to be a bit of a disaster. Birds which had been before and had experience have failed to arrive and birds first time over have turned up.
peterpau Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Lot of fanciers I know have nearly 60 to 70% of their teams missing from the MNFC Falaise seems to be a bit of a disaster. Birds which had been before and had experience have failed to arrive and birds first time over have turned up. Seems to be the other way round here BICC lads have faired worse (not just me) I have 8 from 26 now
blackjack Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I have now 7 MNFC birds with me in Moreton in Marsh 6 yesterday and 1 this evening they are picking up well and the owners are coming for them in person. I can only speak for myself concerning BICC Alencon it was going to be a tough one look at what Bill Cowell forecast and the UK@French weather services forecast i was fortunate 4 out of 4 on the day set now with luck for BICC Pau but this was clearly forecast cold north winds, cloud and poor atmospherics with the same for sunday and monday but improving atmospherics clearing for tuesday. Well Bill right again on the weather and importantly atmospherics i had good returns but slow and split from Kingsdown just one latebred out 1st race for 9 of them . So Bill do people really look at the weather properly your views would be interesting.
johnny11 Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 It seems people had a bad race with the MNFC. I was fairly lucky by all acounts having 5 out of the 7 by 6-00pm flying some 333 miles and one next morning Im really chuffed with the performance this weekend i was doing 1012 ypm with my second bird 5 minutes behind the first John
Guest Paulo Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 the weathers crap up here today think the birds will have a hard race
Guest Paulo Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 looks like the unc are up so I reckon ours will be
dazza Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 returns from MNFC appalling round me, seems that all the birds have gone down the west side of the country. I have 1 from 12 and have heard stories of 1/70 and 4/45 etc. Have had 2 reported 1 in Stoke and 1 in Cannock. Thanks to those people who reported. Have heard that the weather was bad at Portsmouth saturday morning anyone confirm or deny? cheers dazza
johnny11 Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Dazza we had a terrible race from Portsmouth on saturday liberated at 8-00am flying to the North West
dazza Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 It seems there must have been thousands of birds that never left the south coast on saturday morning.
Guest Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Probably right there dazz, over the weekend I had 9 soaking wet strays enter my loft knackered, all race rubbered! So I put them in an aviary with plenty of peanuts and maize for the weekend as they were going nowhere in that rain. Then liberated this morning in bright blue sky and sunshine from Guildford and the batch headed north so I hope they make it home today!

Pompey Mick Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 The Solent had a very good race from Messac 208ml with near 100% returns in my club, the weather here in Portsmouth on Sat was cold & overcast for most of the morning but brightening with sunshine in the afternoon but with a cold northerly wind blowing. Visibility was good with no rain. I put a short video of the Liverpool liberation on an earlier thread.

blackjack Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 I ended up with 8 MNFC birds all collected this evening by good caring fanciers one of them took 4 back for different people .They were a credit to the fancy and a refreshing change from just chuckit out or worse.
