KINSDOWN IS JUST OUTSIDE SEATON, IT IS A FARM I BELIEVE CALLED KINGSDOWN THATS WHY YOU CAN'T FIND IT ON THE MAP. ALL THE BEST FOR THE WEEKEND.

According to my atlas, it seems we are going to a place called KINGSDON, about 5 mile nnw of Yeovil. It seems some screwballs dont know where we are going, including myself . ;D

Vic, my combine flies its first two yb races from there but we as a club do not compete. To me it is only 17 mile!!! I can not give you the exact location and live down here!! If you look at Junction 27 of the M5 and head SE about 15 mile that's more or less where Kingsdown is I believe!

Hope some officials of feds and natioanals make some strong brave decisions as can't have this every year we all work too hard for it to be taken away from us at last minute. The Belgian option is still available but for how long until banned on whole continent :( To where I live got to be North as best option can get just short of 400 miles from Thurso then there is Lerwick!! but some nationals/classics need to turn north as well for the extra interest. Don't think NRCC is over this way certainly not supported here.

Pompey Mick has picked up from DEFRA website that the Continental Racing Licence has been revoked as of today, 5th July. Nothing other than France on RPRA website. Looks like its back to inland racing from this weekend.

General Licence

European Communities Act 1972, Section 2(2)

The Avian Influenza (Preventive Measures) (England) Regulations 2006(1)

Under regulation 6 of the Avian Influenza (Preventive Measures) (England) Regulations 2006 (“the Regulations”), having carried out a veterinary risk assessment and being satisfied that the bird gathering and the transit of birds to and from such a gathering will not significantly increase the risk of the transmission of avian influenza virus, the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs hereby licenses the arrangement of the collecting together of poultry or other captive birds, in the case of racing pigeons, for racing in the British Isles only, at fairs, markets, shows, exhibitions and other gatherings, subject to the conditions set out in the Schedule.

Should the risk situation change, the Risk Assessment will be revised, and the general licence that permits gatherings may be revoked, meaning that gatherings may be restricted or banned.

Definitions

‘British Isles’ for the purposes of this licence means England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man but it excludes the Channel Islands.

‘Epidemiological group’ for the purposes of this licence means a group of birds with a defined epidemiological relationship that share approximately the same likelihood of exposure to a pathogen. This may be because they share a common environment (e.g. birds in a shed), or because of common management practices. Often, this is the whole flock.

‘Gathering’ for the purposes of this licence means the arrangement by a person of the collecting together of poultry or other captive birds from different epidemiological groups at one location.

‘Event organiser’ for the purposes of this licence means the person who accepts the responsibility of ensuring the licence conditions are implemented.

‘Premises’ for the purposes of this licence means any land, building or place (this includes car parks).

Several countries across Europe have begun re-introducing measures to deal a bird-flu outbreak. It comes after officials in France and Germany discovered more wild birds that have died of the lethal H5N1 strain. Berlin has now decided to raise its threat levels after confirming an outbreak in the eastern state of Thuringia. The Netherlands is also restricting its commercial poultry to confined areas but it has refused to reveal exactly where the virus was found.

Meanwhile, Europe's biggest poultry producer, France, has confirmed its first cases in more than a year. The disease was identified in three swans found dead in Moselle in the east of the country. Michel Barnier, France's agriculture and fishing minister, says it means birds and poultry will now either have to be locked up or protected by nets to avoid all contact with wild birds. Last year, 13 EU states confirmed incidents of bird flu. In most cases they involved wild birds such as swans.
