expat1 Posted July 10, 2007 Author Report Posted July 10, 2007 First things first Blackjack You know my name and it seems you come from the same neck of the woods from where i left england so how about letting me know who i am posting to Read my coming article in the BHW it will tell you what i think can be done if they want to, it was sent in yesterday. It is difficult to overcome the Defra, but how about you at least giving it a try and write to them , When we had no racing over here in France the other year i wrote twice to the Powers to be over here asking them to give a valid and proven explantion as to why racing was stopped. Like all govenments they have an answer for everything but at least i did have a go, And remember, it was an Engels telling the Belgiums a few home truths, probably more than there own countrymen did
Guest Vic Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Fraid not mate, the obituary columns are getting longer, doubling and even trebling in the very near future. We are not too far away from complete arial monitorisation of our birds through injected chipping whatever, I only hope it happens, to save this wondeful sport of ours.
Guest Vic Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 I was replying to some of BlackJacks latter questions , by the way. also the word injection should read insertion. Cheers,
expat1 Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 Rose and Co The International Tarbes, marking tonight , The Race has been moved to Arun in Spain about 10kms from San Sebastian, So at least they are trying not to disrupt the International Program too much, Full credit for the efforts Not that it will Help yoy good People this week. Some of you need to phone Peter Bryant to let him know what isgoing on over here, He can then contact defra It probably will do no good but anything is worth trying, and tell Bryant it looks as if the rest of the International Races will go ahead but from Spanish liberations We unfortunatly must give this one a miss,, I think we will be in for a long wait if we send and my eyes are tired enough now, see how they are for Marseille all being well next week Steve
swilcox Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Steve I agree with what you said in a prior post, good long distance pigeons are very hard to find and they only have so many trips in them so it easy to see why fanciers would want to send them to the best possible race and in the UK that has to be Pau (Tarbes) National!!! Even the very best distance flyers have only a small team of winning pigeons and this is why the BICC Barcelona National in the UK isnt the most attractive challenge!!! Just my thoughts Stuart
Pompey Mick Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Here is a site devoted to distance flying, you'll find expat1 there. http://www.zyworld.com/themarathonpigeon/index.htm
expat1 Posted July 12, 2007 Author Report Posted July 12, 2007 I agree with Rose. It is a completely different Ball Game when you have several Countries competing in the one race, The Long Distance Fancier is a Rare Species these days, It is not only the Pigeons that are different in temperment but i also believe that the Long Distance Fancier has a Different makeup to those fanciers who race Short distances, Just My Thoughts ;D
blackjack Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Congratualations to Paul Stone for winning GDSB from Barcelona a small back garden fancier with a great record at the distance and a lovely man to boot.
expat1 Posted July 13, 2007 Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 I heard that the International Perpignan Race will be moved to 'La Jonquera' in Spain Steve
Guest Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Blackjack, is Paul one of the Stones from Derby area, is he a regular distance performer or has he just started to concentrate on the long races?
blackjack Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 SP can you give a rough guide as to its location is it near Perpignan eastern Spain or to the West we might get in for it. Alan no he is no relation hes a west London chap a lovely chap its his 2nd GDSB winner not bad for a back garden loft.
Guest Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 hi blackjack if its spelt la juquera its just S of perpignan and just slightly inland
expat1 Posted July 13, 2007 Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 BlackJack its about 20kms more than Perpignan At the club tonight i heard that the French lot and the Belgians had a meeting in France two days ago, Not a lot came from it and they are meeting again on the 1st August which is too late for Perpignan or anywhere else long Distance They are at Irun this week in place of Tarbes Next week the Marseille International it will come on Television on Monday night where the race will be from Not good news for you people its a great shame when you look forewards to these races and set up the pigeons which is hard enough in itsself, Lets hope Defra sees sense and you can at least get in the Sub Races for Narbonne and Perpignan, Fingers X Steve
blackjack Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Thank you Steve please let us know what happens thank you.
Guest Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Never heard of Paul Stone, just goes to show if your a small loft that doesn't chase publicity how you don't get noticed. Bobby Thomas of Merthyr is the same, a small garden flier..... won The National from Lerwick back in 81, before that was a top flier and still is but gets little or no publicity.
expat1 Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 Rose The Marseille International is now going to be Portbou in Spain. It is right on the coast about 40kms more than Perpignan, To our Loft about 620 miles I hope the pigeons will be up to it, they have had a 300miler and a 400miler plus a near 500 to 580 miles race this year hopefully they will be ready on tuesday Steve
Guest Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 If we got the go ahead to race in at least one more international i wonder what the birdage would be like it would be interesting
Roland Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Never heard of Paul Stone, just goes to show if your a small loft that doesn't chase publicity how you don't get noticed.
