tony99 Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 For some fanciers today will be their last race of the season. As is normal with our European climate this season we experienced some extreme weather, and I doubt that next year will be any different. No change in the forecast for today as fine warm sunny conditions will affect France and the channel. Visibility has decreased over night in the channel as some mist and fog has developed but visibility will recover as the sun gets to work. I would not expect liberations from the Channel Isles and France to take place until at the earliest 09:00 hours giving time for conditions to improve. The light north easterly element in the wind over the channel will test our birds and all those young pigeons returning to their lofts will have done well. Temperatures will reach a warm 23C or 24 C. Keith Mott convoyer LSECC reported some mist at Guernsey, MNFC convoyer Richard King at Cherbourg reported a little cloud cover but good conditions overall, and Pete Wilcox convoyer BBC has the sun in the sky over Lamballe. All these convoyers are waiting for the channel to improve before liberating. The CSCFC at Truro have fog which should dissipate quite quickly. ******************************************************************************
THE FIFER Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 View over the FORTH 0950, blue sky good sun, light North wind, visability good.
David Swain Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 Cloud has moved into South Dorset too now, temperature has dropped quite a bit and light breeze is picking up. Still some blue sky though and visibility not too bad although a little hazy.
Tony C Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 Dagenham Essex.... full cloud cover, no sign of it breaking yet.
Wiley Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 Dagenham Essex.... full cloud cover, no sign of it breaking yet. Beckton, East London, cloud breaking at this moment slight NNE wind
David Swain Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 Cloud has disappeared again in South Dorset and it's warm and sunny again. Still think it's going to be a tough one for the YBs from Lamballe with BBC. Very similar to weather and wind in 1967 when we were 2nd open NFC YB National Avranches doing just under 1000 and the winner was in Weston-super-Mare, wouldn't be surpised if the winning velocity is about the same today.
Taylorsloft Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 aberdeen cloudie north wind birds will have to work today
