Wiley Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 an old man told me its not very nice but to p*ss up your shed or to put urine in a bucket and splash it on the shed,i never did try it but thats what his advice was as he said as soon as they could smell humans they dnt want to know
Guest Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 i have a repelent you get from a gun shop it is used by game keepers to keep foxes away from there bird pens it works great only down fall is if you have dogs they will not go out in the garden the smell works on them as well
THE FIFER Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 u get the ultra sound gadgets for foxes as u do for cats etc, never had foxes so dont know if they work, the one i do no works on cats is the scare crow one which u connect to ur garden tap and when anything comes in its area it lets go with a hose of water, keeps cats and humans away, i would think it would give the fox a scare as well as its a good burst of water it lets go and it follows the target around .

Guest Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 Agree with others on need to keep the loft physically secure against anything trying to get in. Also think that any animal sniffing about outside, or running about inside the loft, is bound to unsettle the birds. If you have power supply, suggest try something I've put in last 2/3 months: an ultrasonic animal chaser which B&R had on offer at £25. This one keeps dogs cats squirrels rodents out of a 50 foot arc-sweep area in front of it. Variable frequency range 16-23,000hz and up to 130dB so thank goodness humans can't hear it. Mine points along the front of the loft toward the house, I think the hard surfaces will bounce and amplify its signals out into the garden. One of my daughters and her partner swear they can hear it in my kitchen ... 'high squeaky sound'..
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 well were do i get on from,as my field is on an alot ment, the farmer said i could put up an electric fence

jupiter_19630 Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 Where do you get one of those scarecrow thingies that blast the cats? I,ve got a cat scarer that keeps them from hanging around too long, but still lost a bird the other day and a fox came in the garden last night. Tripped a flood light and the scarer and scarpered, but might be more desperate and hungry next time.
