MAKE SURE YOU HAVE VERY GOOD VENTILATION IN THE LOFT WITH PLENTY OF AIRFLOW TO MAKE THINGS EASIER FOR YOURSELF ;)

I would just wear a mask and protect yourself long term anyway:-/

One of our club members has got a personal ioniser that he wears round his neck - and swears by it (its got a japanese name - like yakuso  :-/ :-/)

Thanks I'll look it up, i just want to make sure that i have no reason ever to have to get rid of the birds.  I've only just started but am loving it already and the pigeon community too.  Specially on here! :)

When i started with pigeons i had asthma very bad and was advised against having them, however i wore a mask for so long which i found uncomfortable so i now wear nothing and get on absolutly fine not that i would recommend you ue nothing.

I think my asthma cleared up as i got out my teens

Well that's what I would worry about if cabin boy went into the racing pigeons as he had asthma, but he is now 15 and he seems to have grown out of it, so I think he would have to wear a mask.

Dazer international sell them - but their website is down at the moment - its the one that sells xerek - for young bird sickness

www.dazer.com

sorry - dazer sell personal ionisers - but I don't know if they are anything like the other one

certainly - when worn around the neck - you can actually feel the fresh air around you - they don't clear the air in the loft though

i have bronchial asthma, but, pigeons dont effect me at all,,,!!!

saying that, most of the front of my loft is wide open with wire netting, probably thats why i have no ill effects from pigeons !!!!

i think its all down to plenty of fresh air and movement of air in the loft !!!!!!!!

Breathing any of the fine white powder cannot be good for you, I am sure it is similar to asbestos dust and fibreglass particles in the sense it does not deteriorate and just builds up over time :-/

my brother in law is excactly the same , fairly bad asthmatic , hes able to go in to the aviary, but not the loft ,,so i think putting it down to "plenty fresh air movement of air in the loft " is quite right :)

Asthma takes all different forms and has all different reaction to things

Cabin boy is ok in the loft, ok with our dogs, but cannot visit his friend because he has a dog that brings on his asthma symtoms. checked with the doctor as we thought is was an allergy but no :-/

Was there not a thread on PFL that a member's doctor had said if your lungs were already compromised by smoking, or another allergy, that you are unlikely to be affected by PFL too?
