barlbymark Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 i went to blackpool today for my very first time, spent meny years hopeing to do so, but blackpool has the three things i hate, crowds/ pushing/rudeness/so to me the time there was hell.i was there at 9am and on my way back home by 10.30am, BUT to you who dont mind all that it is a great weekend, but for me never again,
Fair Play Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Have you ever thought the BHW show of the year has outgrown the Winter Gardens or Blackpool in general?

blackjack Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 I agree totally with the 1st statement Blackpool is not for me or my family for the same reasons.

john robo Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 first time for me too. not what i was expecting. show prices was not much. not much different than the local corn shop. i only seen ONE 2008 bird. the lofts on display were nice and give me a few ideas. went to the pb stand twice meet richard, no members there, but thats probley because the pubs right next to the stand.
carlsberg Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 i agree its got far too big but it didn't help that the leopold rooms weren't being used this year so everything got squashed together , its also not very wheelchair friendly cos we were pushing a friend round and getting nowhere cos people wouldn't move some were just rude getting pushed past with no apologies next year going later in the day to avoid most of the crowds. but overall i do enjoy blackpool show and especially the fancy birds in the spanish hall might go and buy some of them just to look at
steve d Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Just got back I will echo everything that has been said rudeness, bad language, pushing/shoving etc especially at ten o clock this morning but towards mid afternoon it eased off a bit. I took my young child last year and vowed he would not go again. It is always nice meeting up with old friends but why they have to stop talking in the middle of were people are walking is beyond me. I have allowed at least 13 different fanciers with limps/sticks etc to pass in front of me today with no thank yous in return, manners cost nothing. Did not see any real offers on stand but to be fair I could not get near to look :(
homer Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 yeah went to the pb stand we lauged at the flyer we got . and yes they need more space, its not a family event we had my young kids with us and the bad language that they were useing was out radges, never will i go there again. what was funny about the flyer ??
Guest Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Thought it might be better with no smoke must admit that put me off when I went last, sadly language is now coming the norm......... I suppose in a wierd way when it does become the norm there'll be no concern : :-/ ??)
REDCHEQHEN Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Thought it might be better with no smoke must admit that put me off when I went last, sadly language is now coming the norm......... I suppose in a wierd way when it does become the norm there'll be no concern : :-/ ??) thats cos they can't smoke - abstaining makes you bad tempered

GREAT.
gangster Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 we had a good time and there was no badlanguage near the p/b stand, and what was good all the members had good banter...
THE FIFER Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 have been going for the last 5 years or so and really enjoy it, agree theres a lot of things we dont like, but thats life now, it is a bit crowded etc, but will be there as long as the old body permits, all the best to all for 2008,.
barlbymark Posted January 21, 2008 Author Report Posted January 21, 2008 well like tammy said we all have our own opinions. and yes it is prob a good weekend, but there were more people there then i thought they would be i dont like crowds and pushing and shuffing not for me is that lol. it was my first time ever to the show so i know now that its not my cup of tea as the saying goes, but its good for all you guys who dont mind the crowds,im a country boy from Norfolk and not use to all that lol.
