ch pied Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 i came by , two very nice cock's & a nice hen ;D ;D ;D
gangster Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 come on stuart give us your opinion on the best bird sold in blackpool?????
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Spotted a nice blue pied SVR. hen on one of the stalls that had bred 6 1st prizewinners for £100.was tempted but didn,t get her.
swilcox Posted January 22, 2008 Author Report Posted January 22, 2008 A dark w/f cock sold from our stand to a man in Ireland. Its so nice when somebody lets you pick pigeons for them and i believe i picked a real champion!! It would be nice if the guy placed a picture. Then there was the old Blue w/f 5 x Barcelona!!! That were bad either. Stuart Other than that Darren Peters sell, the very last lot, very rare breeding 019 x Afgekeurde Janssen lines
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Should have been headed WHO THOUGHT THEY BOUGHT THE BEST BIRD, and that will be everybody who bought one or more, because everybody thinks they are buying a champion when in fact only a tiny minority will do anything in reality,so a lot of hard earned cash has yet again lined the pockets of the vast amount of sellers who managed to unload a lot of birds, but the amount of birds on sale in the pens will no doubt follow the the law of averages and somerthing will come out of them somewhere along the line as there were hundreds of pedigrees, only paper as far as i am concerned but it seems to sell more birds, but as long as everybody who bought birds are happy then thats what counts in the end.
Guest Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 I didn't buy any, but there was a REALLY nice pair of Lol Greens distance birds, and a beauty of a Dark Velvet Kipp pigeon on the same stall, that maybe would have come home with me had i been looking to purchase!! There was also a couple of nice pairs of Janssens that Amanda nearly had from Derek Reis, they were class! Didn't get too deeply involved in looking at birds for sale other than those mentioned which stood out for me!
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 come on stuart give us your opinion on the best bird sold in blackpool????? as there were 1000's of birds being sold it would be impossible for anybody to answer that as they could not possibly know all the birds on sale , each seller will say that they sold the best in their opinion, the best one will belong to the person who gets the best from the one they bought, so time will answer that, maybe those that bought birds at Blackpool last year could answer what they got out the birds they bought then and then see who bought the best, but that would only be those on here that bought them because a lot would be bought by fliers who do not visit any pigeon sites.
gangster Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU SAY TAM BUT I WAS ASKING STUARTS OPINION AS HE POSTED IT UP...... ps sorry for caps i aint shouting...
swilcox Posted January 22, 2008 Author Report Posted January 22, 2008 Probably right Tammy there not all champions. The stand that was next to us had sick and poor quality pigeons on it and was a bit sad to see people snapping at them due to there colour, they just looked so poor that I would be surprised if they bred something to fly around the house. Me and the vet on a stand near by looked at them when all was gone and both agreed they weren’t fit for selling. And guess what he was a non-fancier! Then again with a deal like free cocci and canker with every bird!!! One young lad from the forum got some, i did try to get his attention as would have preferred to give him a pair but it was too late.
bosshog224 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 some of the birds i seen on offer i wouldnt have took them home for nothing.you dont find many good pigeons at reduction sales.one of the sales i went to 12 year old cock 540.00 takeing some chance buying that.

swilcox Posted January 22, 2008 Author Report Posted January 22, 2008 Jumbo You did get a cracker, i didnt even know he was there until i found in one of the Ali box's on Sunday morning!!!! Raymond just smiled and said ah there he is, sell him quick or i will change my mind. The eye of that pigeon is a super green, would love to show Dovescot i really dont know what your going on about and i dont know what your problem is, we were having a conversation about how easy it was to keep pigeons healthy (ref the one next door), Rose expressed a view thank Virkon is a good product and after that i said well milton is also good (and cheaper). The conversation started as did every converstion with a PB member that day why was there so much tension on PB, so when i saw you i said your ears must be burning!!! The best thing we can do for the good the members and PB is drop it. All the best Dovescot Stuart

Michael J Burden Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 A red opal cock for 25 quid sure to please or be eaten
Roundo Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 The two cocks that I was fortunate enough to purchase at the Syndicate Lofts auction are possibly two of the finest pigeons I've ever handled/owned........they are a real credit to Peter Fox and the team. From the 71 lots I'm pretty sure you couldn't fault one single bird. Good luck to all who purchased at the weekend, lets hope we breed loads of winners in the years ahead. Roundo.
jimmy white Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Should have been headed WHO THOUGHT THEY BOUGHT THE BEST BIRD, and that will be everybody who bought one or more, because everybody thinks they are buying a champion when in fact only a tiny minority will do anything in reality,so a lot of hard earned cash has yet again lined the pockets of the vast amount of sellers who managed to unload a lot of birds, but the amount of birds on sale in the pens will no doubt follow the the law of averages and somerthing will come out of them somewhere along the line as there were hundreds of pedigrees, only paper as far as i am concerned but it seems to sell more birds, but as long as everybody who bought birds are happy then thats what counts in the end. my goodness me ;D ;D ;D im agreeing with tammy ;D ;D ;D i infortunately , didnt see stu,s stand ,, but the reports i had ,, the pigeons were a credit to him , and in great condition i wished i had seen them ,,as any pigeon i have purchased from stu. willcox have arrived at my house in superb condition [one bred two prizewinners last year ],, half the battle for a start ,,,,,,in answer to tammy,s question [which i agree,, "who thought they bought the best" possibly more to the point ,,,,,for hundreds of years the old farmers go to their markets,, buy the hens, they think , are going to lay the biggest and most eggs the cow thats going to give the most milk and produce the best meat etc etc etc ,, they still cant do it spot on,, after all these years,, [thought i was foster and allen for a min ;D] the point im trying to make is ,,,,if you buy a healthy ,,well bred bird ,pigeon youve a chance [just a chance] of breeding winners [and a lot of that is down to management ], to buy a sickly .poorly one ,youve no chance ,, and any decent pigeon fancier can spot that difference right away
gangster Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 no but im hoping you will take me 1 day..... ;)
