Michael J Burden Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Who has won an International with pigeons purchased from LPW?????? I agree with you on this. I think they lost their way a long time ago.
ribble Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 If i wanted to Top Distance Pigeons from the UK/my area, two names come to mind S V Miles Peasdown St John and Kieth Nethercott and Sons. Be it on the day or next morning both lofts have never failed at the long end. Stuart Got to agree on Kieth Nethercott, we have one of a hen of his crossed with our own which has 3 good NFC positions the best being 25th open at 560 miles. The bird has also scored in the club and fed inland. He is a sound bloke and sells them at a good price, when i visited him he had brought in the Denny birds. I met Denny at Blackpool also a very nice bloke to chat to, and results to die for. Hope to visit him soon.
stevie Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 hi all i think you should try the jamiesons from east calder
Taylorsloft Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 jim donalson peterhead 2 in the clock in ten mins 700 mls
Michael J Burden Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 The Billy Jamesisons had the Fox pigeons too.
p charlton Posted February 20, 2008 Author Report Posted February 20, 2008 I have two red cocks bred by David off birds he purchased from me. Both red cocks are late breds in 2006 but flew Tarbes 674 miles 2007 with nest flights. The 1st one was 135th open NFC. very nice birds they must be class to do that
Guest cloudview Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 ithink i would go up the west coast , blackpool onwards seek out an established family of consistant distance birds over , the last 10 t 15 years , a chap named gilbertson springs to mind , reason being these birds have to fly in predomin atly westerly winds
Guest Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 my point exactly michael but there are 2/3 fanciers in fife just now that i dont think any one should look past John Proctor/jim benvie denis dall and the bold harry maidment flys a good bird at over 600mls aswell no offence meant to the ones i havent mentioned
W.D. Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 But what is a distance bird nowadays? When you see that M.Gilbert won Dax Inter with a middle dist type bird,Bourges was won by 2 lads who flew Marcelis, and Kevin Lawson was scoring from Lerwick with Sootjen crosses? Re Louella, did he not buy back the north road Lerwick winner which was Arden based,Invincible Detorri?
Michael J Burden Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 A distance bird is one which does it well on a no wind day or more importantly a head wind. Most birds can do it on a tail wind.
blackjack Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 May i suggest Jon Clarke of Cyllife Pypard nr Swindon good hard pigeons and 1st class stock birds.
Guest Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Is that the same line as the Hinchclife stuff Michael he races the fox reds very well

Michael J Burden Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Is that the same line as the Hinchclife stuff Michael he races the fox reds very well Yes they crossed them with their Van Hees with great success.
Michael J Burden Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 May i suggest Jon Clarke of Cyllife Pypard nr Swindon good hard pigeons and 1st class stock birds. John has passed away this year, a lot of his birds were up for sale recently.
blackjack Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Mr Burden Young Jon has taken over and only some racebirds and YBS were sold the best are still there and young Jon is continuing racing. I would send anyone want to race the distance to young Jon the quality of his stock and performance birds takes some matching.
jimmy white Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 peter cormack wynchburgh,, allthough stopped racing now ,, has kept some of his favourites ,,,peter [i think] was on the blue riband rennes result , every year for [i think ] 30 years [some doing], not in the best position , but had the best scottish long distance blood going ,,and the management to go with it
Michael J Burden Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Mr Burden Young Jon has taken over and only some racebirds and YBS were sold the best are still there and young Jon is continuing racing. I would send anyone want to race the distance to young Jon the quality of his stock and performance birds takes some matching. I knew his son was remaining in the sport but his advert had a lot of birds in it. I liked their birds, I was contemplating ringing them up but with so many good distance men about it was like being a kid in a candy shop.
Guest Paulo Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 when you find what your looking for breed me a few im looking for the best distance birds i can find from 560 miles our longest race from bourges,do you know of any I fancy trying Alan Darraghs from Ireland. After all to win channel races from there the birds are going over two sets of sea. If you want more local I would say Ron Strong of Hexham would take some beating. Busschaerts crossed with Vandies. Rons topped the WDA from Bourges that must take some doing when you look at loft location.
