Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Take the time to find out who is doing it in your area, best not go to the flat planes of Belgium or Holland. Don't be slow at going forward. If you don't ask you don't get. If the price is out of your reach wait till you can afford it. Though many will tell you they have bought six for £100 from this that or the other do not repeat do not base your loft or build your foundation on this .It takes to long to prove one way or the other. Take the chance out of your quest to have a solid foundation. Remember Go local when you can.
rembrant2coo Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 yes there are a few special fanciers that if you want to win a nat. you have to beat north of the forth as you well know harry no good moaning about them we must try and get something to beat them thats all iam not giving you any more secrets o.k. frank enough said mate and i hope to see you soon

Try Clockman on here, he is the only person I know that has timed in from a race of 1,ooo miles I think was the distance, sure I will be corrected if it is wrong, [Palamos ]
sapper756 Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 In my opinion, Dennis Dall of Ladybank, Fife. Top distance fancier,, and his birds have stood the test of time

Guest Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Well, i certainly can't fault Stuart's birds, have had some of them myself! (The old Theelen Red Cock has left us a real one I think Stu! I'll keep you informed! ) Personally, the main choices for me now, at this moment in time, for extreme distance racing would be in England - Brian Denny of York, and Chris Gordon, Pontefract. With no disrespect meant to anyone else, I feel these two are currently the best two long distance fanciers in England. Jock Ellis, Jim Donaldson, and Bob Donaldson, absolute tops at long distances into Scotland. On the continent, Emiel Denys of Belgium, Wim Muller of Holland, Hugo Kipp of Germany.
Delboy Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Most people fall into the trap of buying birds from guys who are winning nationals etc flying into favourable positions, well they may be good enough pigeon fliers but there are equally as good in all parts of the country. How many times have we said the best bird in the race was in say 25th position, maybe flying further against the wind. There are good distance birds everywhere.I would suggest you go to the best distance man in your area and purchase eggs or latebreds from him.Take a note of how he flies his birds eg widowhood, natural, roundabout etc and his feeding and training methods.
