How many now regret getting ETS now they know how much work is involved in opporating the system?

 

Well as secretary of our club I have been trying to sought out the upgrades on two systems (Bricon + Unikon) for weeks now,I,m pretty certain that everything is o.k. now,I,ve still got to assign about another 100 rings to members old birds (allready done about 300)but do I regret having the system in our club,A BIG NO.

I am in the throes of getting 25 systems up and running, if they are going to do updates now isn't really the time to do it. Any updates should be made available at the end of the Racing Season.I have just had to re-assign 25 systems before we have had a chance to use them.

It's all very well all these systems trying to out-do one another with extra capabilities, but not at the expense of administrators.

From what I've seen all the marketing is aimed at the Fancier purchasing the system with little or no emphasis on the administration side

I am just hoping that the automatic inputting of race result data with the FSS program will give me something back and that after the first year things will get easier, ETS will make things a lot easier at the Club, especially if you are a Clock Station, so it's best to look at the positives and find a way of delegating the negatives.

I supose its just another thing us secs have to put up with for the benefit of unapreciative members!

I asume Mick you are using Unicon as I believe thats the only one that works with FSS!

Hopefully soon they will get FSS to work with others.

but how long r they going to free for and if you do have to upgrade every year i think you will have to pay for it  it will be one way that the clock makers can get money out of you each year

They make thier money from ring sales :-/

well that was a job and a half 20 clocks done and the instructions for the change are double dutch to us older fanciers,but when explained by an expert who said the instructions was not user friendly and he believes there is a flaw in programme as was there with the Unikon club,the after sales from unikon are non existant waiting 4 weeks on club disc arriving phoned again last Monday still waiting,do unikon give a damn i do not think so,could not do enough for club when we purchased 18 sets from them, but after two days with this programme getting it to work was murder lost 4 clocks due to the info supplied on the inter net and a loaned disc from nearby club,was it all worth it yes its faster and quicker and will save me time later on,but unikon need to get the finger out and release these update at the end of the season and give fanciers time to get it right or repair the damage done whilst attempting to upgrade programmes. :'(

I  think it,s terrible that a lot of clubs are having problems with this update, and there doesn,t seem to be a sufficiant support system to help. I have yet to assist the Fifer in updating our 20 clocks, but can not make head or tail of the instructions :-/ Not so slow in taking our money for these 20 clocks, and plenty of help proir to and in setting up. However not a great deal of interest now. I hope I don,t come over too negative, but I am very angry at present at the lack of support being offered, and the lateness of the disks being issued >:( 4 weeks to our 1st race and still a lot of work to be done :-/

Dear SHU Members,

 

It is important that you use the latest UNIKON update to use the new Club Manager Software.

 

For those that were using Version 2.72 - mostly SHU Professional Users here are just 10 of the things you can look forward too with 2.80 and above

 

1. The master timer display on the club system has been improved.

 

2. Clearer to see the race in each pocket clock – now the club initials for each race are displayed so that you can see who set each race in the pocket clock

 

3. Results now possible with the new club manager

 

4. When striking of a race not done at your club the system will warn you (To help prevent accidental striking off)

 

5. Colour of bird on reports

 

6. Colour displayed in full during Marking

 

7. Multiple race entry sheet printing (One touch 6 sheets at a time)

 

8. Multi-pocket clock support (You can now have up to 5 pocket clocks per loft clock)

 

9. Time always displayed on Loft Clock (even when no Pocket Clock Present)

 

10. Number of Pocket Clocks registered to your loft clock displayed when no pocket clock present.

Just found out today we have been sent the wrong disk, no wonder I was confused, however recieved the correct disk today, so fingers crossed ;)

You probable got mine,registered to get one in november,got a letter from Unikon conferming that I would be sent one as soon as they were ready,rang up on March 6th as advised, to ask where mine was I was told that it had definately been sent,

STILL WAITING, good job I could sort everything out without the disc with racing so close.

Any information for Members south of the border as I believe the Scottish system is slightly differant.

 

If you check the update website mentioned above there are two further updates following the major 2.8, there's a 2.82 and a Club Master 3.2.

At least no info was lost during these updates.

it was the wrong paperwork we got explaining what to do, but yes got the right ones 2 day, but still not getting it, I have one pc with windows ME which I have all the old unikon club on and cant get the new disc to download on it, it is ok on my other pc with windows XP but the fittings from the base doiesnt fit this one so i think i will just throw the lot in the bin, fed up with it all,

Did you get any spare cables with Blue plastic fittings on when you first had your club system as i think you need to connect one of those onto the existing cable then connent into a USB port on the computer,had the same problem connecting the base to my laptop.
