Guest redwhiteblue Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Who do you think has had the best pigeon in the last ten years to race into Scotland, may it be the snfc or the snrpc. My selection has to be the one and only auld reekie. In my eyes the best pigeon ever!

Guest KING BILLY Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 auld reekie gets ma vote unbelievable wonder what it was bred of barry
Chris Little Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Yes, Auld Reekie is in a league of his own , a truly remarkable pigeon and easily classed as the best in the UK. In terms of the second best pigeon in Scotland I wouldn't know where to start, there are dozens of them I could mention.
sapper756 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 What about Jim Benvies double national winner

Your right Sapper, Kingdom Boy :-/ but as you say Chris, there are dozens to pick from.
Jumbo Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Reims Girl of Jim Donaldson twice 1st sect Reims then 1 x 1st sect 2 x 2nd sect beaten by loft mate Tours 725 mile also 7th and 13th open must be in with a shout of the best
budgie Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Lets go back just a wee bit further and surely the Greatest ever pigeon to fly into Scotland was the double Gold Award Winner the one and only Fortune Lady.Whats maybe more important is what have all the above Great Pigeons left and what impact are they now making in the S.N.F.C. only time will tell.
Chris Little Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 John Hodgson's Starview Pegasus has to be admired. A SNFC winner and also the sire of an SNFC winner Sheer class
Mike Lycett Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 That "McFly" aint bad is he Chris ?
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Jimmy Whites Sir Colin must be up there as well, even though it is going back a bit
Chris Little Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 That "McFly" aint bad is he Chris ? McFly is a real class bird Mike and raced by a top drawer fancier
sj irving jnr Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 S Fergusons pigeon this year,1st sec 6th open and 1st sec 1st open snfc tours only bird on day,and it also has another couple of tickets to its name.
Guest redwhiteblue Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 That "McFly" aint bad is he Chris ? Yeah Mcfly are really good, they have alot of firsts!!!! lol ;D ;D
Delboy Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 S Fergusons pigeon this year,1st sec 6th open and 1st sec 1st open snfc tours only bird on day,and it also has another couple of tickets to its name. This is another cracker, alot of top pigeons not getting enough publicity.
jimmy white Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Jimmy Whites Sir Colin must be up there as well, even though it is going back a bit it must be remembered that my loft was broken into and sir, colin,s wing broken at 4 years old , off course no one could ever say he would have scored again, but for a distance pigeon he was just in his prime . my vote would undoubtingly go to auld reekie of w kinnear and son .for winning positions but there has been many great pigeons over the years fortune lady [the only double gold award winner ] must rate as one of the best ever over its ten year racing carreer . one seldom mentioned is l mitchell of inverkeithing,s b pied hen , this pigeon being 8th open in the hardest rennes race ever [only 21 timed in race time] scored a total of 7 times from over 500 miles
jimmy w Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 dont know if this is the fancier but ralston graham eskvallyjackie racing about same time as the famous auldreekie in the snfc ,was agood hen ,i think the sparrahawk killed her 2year ago
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 dont know if this is the fancier but ralston graham eskvallyjackie racing about same time as the famous auldreekie in the snfc ,was agood hen ,i think the sparrahawk killed her 2year ago He also had "Eskvalley Pat" top pigeon with a list of top performances in the SNFC.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 "Auld Reekie" has to be the best of the best with 1+1 = 2 1st nationals and many other quailty performances as well.
frank-123 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 hats off to they guys that send there pigeons back again and again especially after taking good positions must have b%lls of steel ;D
Guest stevie-b Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 auld reekie tremendous pigeon also john duthie from dundee his gold award winner as good as it gets excellent pigeon
Delboy Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 A note about Fortune Lady is that her dam scored 5 or 6 times and her g.dam ( Flower of Scotland )scored 7 times all with the SNFC at over 500 miles. What a line of champion distance winning pigeons
Guest IB Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Seen it mentioned somewhere, but not in relation to Scotland, a 'Hall of Fame'. Fortune Lady is the only pigeon featured in SNFC Yearbook. I think there should be a Hall of Fame set up where birds performances, such as those mentioned here, can be recorded for posterity. The thread also highlights a possible gap in 'the standard' and current 'Gold' might not be sufficient honour. Auld Reekie for example won 2 Nationals which I think might be a unique achievement? Does winning more than one National not merit a Special Award of some kind, given the absence of a Hall of Fame and the very few birds that might achieve it?
gangster Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 AULD REEKIE FOR ME....PURE CLASS...............
