i had already removed all nest bowls etc, then any eggs laid would be removed...which they didnt lay that many.

maybe this was a one off dont know...but im gonna try it again this season, maybe it was a one off.

Thanks. Possibly less stress on the birds keeping them together through winter. More contented etc. Then when you decide to start breeding not as frantic as re-introducing partners. Some cocks a bit O.T.T. with thier hens on pairing after separation.

maybe not the conventional thing done , all moulted ok some real good.

i know there will be pro,s and cons for leaving them together but it worked last year.

..i know someone else who did this too last year....and was 2nd section b.i.c.c....not that it made a difference to racing.

Its not my favourite time of year

Nor mine, at least this year I don't need to go down the early breeding route. My loft is out in the sticks, no light, no water everything taken back and for, no fun rearing early ones going in the morning and evening with a torch to put down food and water. This year it's the end of Feb for me for stock and racers, yipee!!

Most of them just seem to know that its finished breeding time as soon as you take away the nest bowls, they get into a routine, still get the odd egg lying around but not very much.
