Guest Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 A fantastic jesture OY, the youngsters are the future of our sport, something I am forever trying to promote.
Guest Freebird Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Think it's a bit unfair to choose one individual from a whole bunch of very helpful people. We are so lucky to have so many knowledgeable, funny, witty, compassionate, friendly, entertaining, clever people on the site so why choose one or even a top ten and leave the rest out. Surely the prize must go to Richard for all his hard work in the past, present and future.
Guest racer Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 just put everyones name in hat and draw it no probs then save a lot of work

Believe you could be very well correct in selecting Richard as without him the members of this forum would not be having the Arguments >, laughs ;D, sorrows :'( and entertainment ;D 8) they have had over the last few years. Cheers Gareth

Although I did nominate, I have to say that on reflection, I have to agree with freebird in that there are far to many who are deserving of the award and it would not be correct to single out one person. My hunch is that Richard would decline the award anyway. Nevertheless a great gesture by Stuart
little sam Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Thank you Sam , i only ever joined this site to learn like many of you , ok i have flown for 12 years off and on and can pass a bit of experience on and i am quite happy to do so , if i can shortcut a few heartaches or help someone i will , i would like therefore to thank everyone who nominated me , but i would not want to accept this prize for myself and as we are trying to promote youth on this site and in this our choosen sport i would like to give young Sam this prize if i win it and rember this site wouldnt be here all members are important as this is what makes this site what it is and thats everyone of you Very nice of you Oldyellow ;)
Roland Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Yes in reality, Richard has a very difficuly task, long and labourious, has to be very patience, understanding, and have a op on a tongue regularly - through biting it. And then has to abide snide, uncurteous remarks, hang if does and dang if doesn't, and yet still puts his money where his mouth is. So I'd go along with that!
THE FIFER Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 So far there are many quality and deserving candidates that have been nominated, Vic, Roland, Duncan, Albear, Ally Mac, Stuart, Webbie, IB, Rose, Mark, PJC, etc, all top class regular contributors, aswell a few that have been thrown in purely for devilment! However, My nomination is for Archie the Fifer. Quietly goes about doing his job, has raised money for his local youth footy team, is always helpful, even in the face of adversity. Always in the background, quietly and patiently taking care of the site. For me, Archie is deserving of this years title! An unsung hero! cheers m8
Guest Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 One of the problem areas of running this site besides the members ;D has to be finance. Perhaps a better way to support everyone , would be to hold a raffle for the £100 voucher at say £5 a time, that way every member has the opportunity to contribute and improve the finances of the site but also the oportunity to win a fabulous prize. There's no reason why there can't be an annual PB member of the year award voted for by members in a poll. Of course the voucher is being given by Stuart and Raymond which is a fantastic gesture and it is their choice how they wish to donate anyway.
Roland Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 had the very same thoughts just earlier. Thought that if I'd won it, I would have put it up for auction for the sites benefit. having said that, I see no reason why both propositions aren't viable. like the 'Next to Donate' could well be for the benefit of Richard. But then I am giving away and odnating other fanciers' birds... which I think I could get rather good at lol ;D ;D ;D
Guest Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Well I was only being selfish Knew I got no chance so this way thought I might
pigeonscout Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 I had a lost bird reported on this site and Gangster was the first man to offer to go a pick it up for me. It is easy to post on the site but to travel 100+ miles to retrieve another members bird for him is something special.
ally mac Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 I have been trying to think who I might single out and was really struggling as I have had help from so many and also enjoy reading the posts of so many more. I would definately go along with Richard as without this site I would probably not have got so involved with the racers not to mention all the other benfits that have come from the site. Al.

gangster Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 VIC i must say i find your statement a bit naughty,,,lets forget any polls ect its not about that...............its a pity with all your racing experiance you cannot come up with something more helpful or constructive to post about rather than rubbish things , there are lots of new members or less experianced who seek some help time 2 time is it a bad thing ?????
DOVEScot Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Who do you Guys think you are? Accepting , Phony plaudits ( in most cases) from some mediocre flyers who, don't know what the Pigeon game is all about. Crap Indeed! As if you care, maybe your highly offensive remarks to him because he is not in Vic's league have put him off coming on. :-/ Is it a case of, if you are not in Vic's league or wavelength you are waisting your time keeping pigeons and have little or no knowledgeable input on the site and have no right to comment on your topics :-/ I rest my case :(
jimmy white Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 there is no doubt in my mind the person i would nominate would be bruno , and now i,b ,, this man , like him or not, has posted hundreds of helpfull posts on illnesses , inc, avian flue, many many more ,, put a lot of time in this forum to seek out a lot of info, ,, off course there are many more , who have enormously helped pb by the most sensible informative postings also the mostly unseen ones the fifer who does a lot of unseen work to keep this forum running , [hard work ] shadow, another who hasnt been mentioned , usualy short and to the point , but rarely wrong far too many to mention , tony c a lot of sense and a great humour , just far to many to mention ,, but ib by a nose ;D
