My first ever race when I was at school ( not that long ago ) it snowed most of the day. I set of down the garden with sandwiches and a flask from my mother. Waited the whole day nearly froze to death and didn't see a feather that day. Got three next morning and one on Monday 100% returns I was delighted, and got a couple of days off school with a cold

No longer in Lanarkshire but do remember that one, though slightly different recollection? It happened in mid 1960s during late May or early June, I was waiting at my Bellshill loft on the birds arriving from a race, and it started snowing.

there was a race in 1983 1st or 2nd week in may we were at garstang and it snowed on the friday about 4inches up here  and it was still laying on the saturday but the birds went and guess what 100% returns crazy is'nt it and yet summers day nice and warm and you get a disaster

remember winning a federation open race at the start of the old bird season(second week in april) a white griz cock homing into a blizzard same cock 2nd fed cheltenham 290mls,next week 5th west coast combine dorchester 370mls this 2nd & 3rd week in june,the cock scored sartilly 511mls the following year,1983 or1984 the year. :) :)great memories.

i remember a longtown race  ;D 62 miles ,, winner took four and a half hours,, hit snow,, if you timed in on the day,,, you were on the result  ;D
