BLACK W F Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 the goverment may call it a credit crunch but it could well turn into a major depression look at the mount of companys that have layed off staff redundencies ect what goes has a habit of not returning in our area alone many jobs have gone or are in the process of going ie paper mill 370 envolpe factory over 100 oil companys its never ending building has just about came to a standstill and we in the Aberdeen area have the lowest unemployment in the country things are getting tough up here god help the rest of the country pigeon racing will be the last thing on peoples minds in previous recesions banks had money this time they have none and this goverment have not got a clue print more money still have to pay some time things are going to be hard be prepared cheers Alan
Guest chrisss Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 We at timbarra uk , house at the moment 24 pairs of breeders only and intend to resume full racing once we have settled our birds back to the london area, we will only race 6 pairs ourselves , we have not raced more than that. we only feed top quality feed which is £15.45 per 18 kg bag, we shall not be letting the credit situation affect our quality of birds or increase or decrease prices we can supplybirds at, quality throughout. oh happy days all round good luck to you both, anyone who gets through this depression/recession/slight turndown will have deserved it
andy Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Probably affect the pooling in most clubs. Reckon Scotlands biggest weekly racing club the New Lothian, might not manage a £1000 pools most weeks in 2009, although its got more new members this year!!!

Guest Vic Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 Yes! Things are looking grim indeed. I have cut down on number of pigeons, and will be racing on the natural to balance things up. These fat cats should all be shot in my mind. The original bank robbers only stole a few million, and got the eqiuivalent of life. Yet these fat cats, twxts, call 'em what you like, still have the audacity to appear in public.I feel sorry for the present day kids, with all the aliens coming in, things look bleak indeed. Enoch must be turning in his grave.

But when real vital issues are at stake (pun not intended) I would like to think that we all stand back to back, like birds of a feather, to give us all a reasonable exsistence.

Guest Owen Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 I recon we will find it hard to feed our families in a few years, never mind the pigeons. I read the other day that it takes 10 units of energy to produce 2 unit of food energy. In a short time now, we will not be able to aford to import the levels of food imports we are now. The price of pigeon corn is bound to go through the roof.
Guest spin cycle Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 imported corns will probably go up with the pound falling. the worrying thing is that ,with the previous strength of the pound, the uk car plants had to be amongst the most efficient in europe....so now the pound has weakened they should be unbeatable. yet their shortening up . i'm a very 'modest' fancier but my home mixed race mix works out at £7/25 kg...bought mainly straight from the farm. finally best of luck to the guys on here looking for jobs
walterbmasson Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 paulo you will just have to change the training system this year its down to you getting flaged along with the birds then you will both win the marathons good racing for 2009 8) 8) 8)
PATTY BHOY Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 with so many people out of work, the birds will be fitter than ever. ;D ;D

My birds fly well enough round the loft but training seems to be far better than loft flying ofr packing muscle on the birds. Wil lbe just doing a lot of 12 mile chucks for the sprints instead of the normal 25 milers the birds were getting
