im not so keen on the white peas or yellow peas green seem to be king ;)

I've wintered mine on breeders, with added barley, rice and hormoform. As pairing-up time got nearer (this month) I gradually reduced these, and now feed breeders only. When the youngsters hatch, I'll start hormoform again.

i feed 20% maples and 80% wheat up until they lay and hatch then i feed 1/3 maples 2/3 wheat increasing the maples as the ybs get bigger  :)

 

i was told that they can't get maples  where are you getting them from as i would like to get them

im afraid the maple crop failed due to black root , there was green peas at back end but when i rung up they had all gone lesson learned for next year going to get a few stacked up , i had got two bags from buctons worse maples i have ever bought aload of black squashed uns in them not dried or stored properly , i got two bags of Johnstones and Jeffs lovely clean maples best i've seen for many years :)  Â£11.95 for 25kg  ;) i believe theres some near Durham  ;)

thanks for that as when i went for them i was told that they where only putting them in mixes i will just be putting them on tic beans

I cant see Hormoform being the cause of death in the y/b's.I usually feed it 50/50 with linseed in a pot on the floor once a day ;)

the oils can go rancid which could be a problem you need to use it once opened  :)

Only buy it in 5kg bags as it drys out.

Check out and see if your friend is using black nestfelts, is so this could be the cause.

I'd put up a post few years back asking on advice how to store Hormoform, tried it in a tin, and tupperware and basically dried out.

 

Have found that with 5kg bag its best kept in the original bag, top rolled down and fastened with a crocodile clip. Now retains its moisture OK.

better safe than sorry ian,  a bit dearer but who cares , you would think there was a credit crunch  or something lol ;) the only thing that i think thats worse than hormoform to go off is peanuts, very very dodgey

what u mean coal from the bottom of the bag

 

 

Just the little pieces and coal dust that are at the bottom of the sack of coal.  The birds love them.
