maverick Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 dont see any reason for this, there is a fund commitee, and at present we have 4 applications in from the alottment fire, which are being delt with, getting 4 applications at once takes time to deal with, it was as thought we had enough in the funds without having another sale, but the situation has changed with 4 applications at once, those are under consideration, application forms if required can be downloaded from the site, on the home page, under funds, GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK FIFER, BUT THIS does not answer any of the questions asked , as it is us the members who donated to this fund i dont think it bad we are asking about it or for a balance sheet to be put on about the cash taken in and payed out we the members are entitled to know dont you agree
ALF Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I think this could very easily be resolved by Richard as it's only a matter of posting up what is in the account and what has to be remembered is there wouldn't be any money at all if it wasn't for the members of the site gifting pigeons for sale and others buying them....
OLDYELLOW Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 why in a pm this is for the memberships information, not mine, there must be more than one person who can supply this info?all that is needed is a total of what is left, and an update on the "old"trophy well only Richard can answer your question as i dont have the information you require i was mearly pointing you in the right dirrection

As stated hes been away for the weekend and ill will be speaking to him when he makes himself available as hes not on 24 / 7 , and i quite agree the fund should be visable for all to see as i have suggested a banner with fund total on
Guest Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 well the forum rules quite clearly state all moderation is final and we all agreed to the same rules when we joined , so you have actualy agreed to this , and as stated theres more than one site and each moderates differently , moderation is unbiased hence Mavericks disrespectfull post would have already have been moved , the personal view of a moderator are that of the rules we folloow as a moderator , but we are also members so in fact wear two hats one for moderating within the criteria set out by Richard and the forum rules as a member , QUOTE FROM BOB 'The personal view of the moderator should not influence the decision, which often appears to be the case ' as you can se thats clearly not the case just your view . QUOTE FROM BOB 'You and other moderators are NOT above the rules of the site and have made many mistakes yourself in the past' have to agree we have to stick to the rules and arent above them but were selected for our unbiased views rather than a buddy system of moderation , QUOTE FROM BOB 'WHY can one member criticise another and be allowed to do so, and yet when Moderators are asked pertinent questions or criticised the thread gets locked or removed'. A simple question Mark , as you say we have to be impartial not all posts can be read at the same time and moderators arent forced to read every thread for instance i dont like sports so rarely check them unless im asked to do so , so the best moderators are yourselves ensure posts arent offending and they'll stay on report posts that are offending and they'll be looked into , QUOTE FROM BOB 'and yet when Moderators are asked pertinent questions or criticised the thread gets locked or removed' that is down to the discresion of the moderator and most times giving reasons can create more problems rather resolve any , but you are quite entitled to ask why via a pm I would ask in pm, but I don't like talking behind peoples backs, and so I ask my questions (which incidentally were not abusive or rude) in public, and not meant to be disruptive. Quite often Mark, common sense should prevail, as Rules are only there as a guideline. I am not looking for an argument or to be disruptive, but EVERY member on here, it they were to stick to the letter of the law (rules), would be in receipt of a warning at some time or another, and that includes moderators. I am prepared to question moderation, where many on here are not for fear of being banned or reprimanded. If more spoke out instead of just sitting back, then maybe if answers were given to some of these questions that have been asked over and over and over again they would go away and peace would be resumed. That is common sense to me.

Guest Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 enlighten me bob what is the full story as you seem to be well informed ? I am well informed on half the story, and I am sure If I was to ask those questions again I would be banned. I am NOT in the habit of shooting myself in the foot Mark. Too long in the tooth for that mate.
THE FIFER Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK FIFER, BUT THIS does not answer any of the questions asked , as it is us the members who donated to this fund i dont think it bad we are asking about it or for a balance sheet to be put on about the cash taken in and payed out we the members are entitled to know dont you agree yes and i will bring it up, the last time money was left in the fund it was decided to donate half to P/Basics for the running of the site and half to the Pigeon lung fund, members decission,
Guest chrisss Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Maybe for an easier life he should decide whether to make the payouts that are pending and close the fund as seems a thankless job in my opinion. the idea is a great one,but what is needed is a bit of transparency,i have no doubt that everything is above board, but to have only one person running any sort of fund/money raising leaves it open to doubts [again i state wrongly]
maverick Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Maybe for an easier life he should decide whether to make the payouts that are pending and close the fund as seems a thankless job in my opinion. only problem with the fund is that no one knows what is going on all we need is a balance I dont see the problem in asking for one as it is the members who contrabute in one way or another
THE FIFER Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 the idea is a great one,but what is needed is a bit of transparency,i have no doubt that everything is above board, but to have only one person running any sort of fund/money raising leaves it open to doubts [again i state wrongly] one person does not have the say regarding the funds there is a committee, who decides on applications.
maverick Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 yes and i will bring it up, the last time money was left in the fund it was decided to donate half to P/Basics for the running of the site and half to the Pigeon lung fund, members decission, was that not when it started fifer in 2007
OLDYELLOW Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I would ask in pm, but I don't like talking behind peoples backs, and so I ask my questions (which incidentally were not abusive or rude) in public, and not meant to be disruptive. That is common sense to me. yet again as Richard is the site owner and not available 24 / 7 members need to take this into consideration , he will answer questions when his free time permits him to do so .
Guest chrisss Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 one person does not have the say regarding the funds there is a committee, who decides on applications. so some one from "the committee" can come on and tell everyone what the balance is [as of todays date?]and what if any plans "the committee" have for future fund raising, the reason for asking is all i have heard so far is "when richard comes on"[implying that he is the only guy with the info]now i find out that there is a "committee"who i would assume will also have the info?
maverick Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 How many times has this question been asked and not answered
OLDYELLOW Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Right it is clear that members want answers on the Pigeon Basics Fund and rightly so i will contact Richard myself either today or tomorrow and prompt him into answering these questions , as Richard is unavailable this thread will remain locked until Richard replys
grizzle_hen Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I'll try my best to reply to all the issues raised on this thread, if I miss anything out or don't explain anything well its from fatigue (I'm replying to this at the moment because Richard has gone out to get us some dinner). 1. We have been away since Friday and got back to St Andrews about 30 mins ago, we have spent most of the weekend driving down and back from Bournemouth for the BICC/GDSBNFC Presentation Dinner, I think we drove about 1111 miles!! 2. So from all this driving and not really being in one place for too long, we haven't had time to check the forum or reply to pm's, or a decent internet connection to do so. So please be patient and we'll get round to replying to them. 3. Next issue - moderation, well its always an issue and you'll always have some members that aren't happy with a moderation decision. At the end of the day, we'll try our best to explain why or let members know why something have been removed. But when there are say 10 or more members involved, you could end up spending most of the day informing people etc... 4. Also with moderation, we wont always see every reply to every topic, there are some things that will slip through and be missed, this is why there is the report to moderator button. 5. Gangster - I left up one of snowy's threads (the birds wanted one), in hope that he might come back online and see the replies and maybe give us an answer. I realise that for all members the trophy situation is (can't really think of a word) disappointing, and we have all tried ringing to find out, either get no answer or some excuse. So this one for the moment, is going to be worked out until we find out what has happened. 6. The fund - as the fifer has already said there are currently 4 applications for the fund from the arson attacks over christmas and I think Richard may be waiting for the committee to check over the applications or something. 7. Money in the fund - if I remember rightly there is about £3,000 in the account (I'll have to check the exact numbers with Richard), so there is plenty for the current applications and maybe more. 8. Topping up the fund - at the moment I'm not sure what Richard wants to do about a sale, but one thing I can say is that there have been lots of good sales for charity recently on the forum, and this is really a great thing. So if Richard wants an auction to top up the fund, then he may get someone else to run it, but I'll check about this and Richard will let everyone know. 9. I think I've answered everything but may have missed something out, so I'll re-read the thread and if I disappear for a while I'll be eating my dinner :)
Peckedhen Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I am so, so sorry that what I thought was a simple question has caused so much trouble for the forum and the moderators. :B :B Thank you Gemma for your response. Sue :B
Guest Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 ive complained twice about oldyellow in the last week i have also pm,d webby but no reply is there one rule for moderators and another for us???????
