i think  it would be the ultimate racing for every fancier your pigeons  every week nearly garanteed  1mile a minute  racing and totaly kept  fit and stress free, we are lucky to have  a westerly side to race from as we tend to get westerly winds in  the months of may-aug  your bird been able to consontrate  on its flight path with out the added  attack as it had to fly over every  town on it road home

at every  race in the south :o

time for fed officails to get there 'heads' together and put this kinda racing back into play, even when the west feds pulled out we were still getting birdages over 5000 birds! these birdages have never been repeated even at national level...

to race from Ireland would  be the fairest   race that we could have,  as the birds  have to decide  to leave the isle

not like  the races we have, where  the side of the mountain

decides the out come, as you all know  the birds don't go over the top of them, they say  you can get up to 400 mile races from there, less hawks  easy access, ferry cost minimum, the amalgamated birdage  to offset costs  faster racing ideal if you want further fly west cost France  or boat liberation  overfly as  time and distance no side  advantage

its either  tail  wind or head wind,  the birds have time to sort them selves out coming  from the sea  and have no obstructions in the way  10,000 birds  sorting them self out,  and racing home :)

this thread isnt about racing from ireland as it will never happen coz no one will send there birds to ireland then change there birds direction for the nationals

frank if you flew from the North west of France  what diff would it make at 680 Mile the fed racing is in this also its not about just one race  it could accommodate all racing 100 on the day 200 on the day 300 on the Day 400 mile on the one day   15 transporters going the one way and bird baskets  sorted at the ferry terminals :) each club label there basket for what race the want to fly in  its not imposable just a wee bit of savvy employ 2-3 locals to sort baskets in to order all birds away on a Thursday night every one  still has club race

open race  section race  every week :o

we had very few losses when its was the amalgamation, absolutely first class racing... fell away in the final year when a lot of feds pulled out... 'lofts in favourable positions' etc etc, we all know it was the best doo on the day who won the race in this type of competition right up to as far north as aberdeen

i would love to see amlg started up agian i was lucky enough to win myself from maidston. the birdage was fantastic. even if you were 20th or 30th out of 10,000 bird it was still very creditable. get it going again i say

Maybe a stupid question - How would you go about reinstating this type of racing, given I have never flown in them before
