tiler Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 Hi Yes I am another new person hoping to learn from you kings of the sky's ............Hi all !! Ok I read and read about vinegar and garlic and how they seems to be gods chosen products as well as gemthepax strike and homoform but what are they spercifically aimed at......................? When feeding through the moult what do the birds draw on for feather production, what can we add to help tip top feather............? Well those were the 2 questions bothering me so I hope to get some pointers Cheers tiler
OLDYELLOW Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 hi tiler and welcome to pigeon basics , the first 2 questions i cant answer as never used either product . As for a good moult pigeons need good protein and Linseed for a good moult and the occasional luke warm bath will help as well
Roland Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 When feeding through the moult what do the birds draw on for feather production, what can we add to help tip top feather............? Flax / Linseed. A little before their main feed each day. A natural oil and a laxative. Both essential this time of the year. vinegar and garlic ... Garlic is a good proventive... like a pencillan in reverse lol. Viniger, well the juries out on that. Many, and I'm one that believes it has become a myth of imaginations. Often in this game, Things, either deliberately or want of a better word 'Follow the pack' get ctedi undeserve, and much the pigeon does INSPITE of. Best scenario would be to feed Chopped grass and green algae water / Plankton. Look at the beast thriving on grass, and the Blue wale etc. . but of course their systems are built for those feeds, Pigeos aren't.
OLDYELLOW Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 Hormoform is recommended by alot of top fliers to raise young birds and race on , the gemthepax is supposed to give there birds snow like wattles and have witnessed this from a friends birds
tiler Posted September 14, 2008 Author Report Posted September 14, 2008 So garlic in the water say once a week would have benefit, is this best used in water or with feed........... Vinegar well my mother uses it for aching joints is there no end to its powers............as a cheap product I supose it doesnt hurt to use it as it will probably have some use u think. Is iodine good for feather as well, seen it somewhere ? Thanks Tiler
tiler Posted September 14, 2008 Author Report Posted September 14, 2008 hi tiler and welcome to pigeon basics , the first 2 questions i cant answer as never used either product . As for a good moult pigeons need good protein and Linseed for a good moult and the occasional luke warm bath will help as well Peanuts are a good source of protein I read somewhere but need to be good quallity is that right.....is this protein level too high to be feeding regularly White lobes doesnt make them any faster tho right lol
OLDYELLOW Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 well if wattles are white then they are free from excess mucus so that would make them fly to the optimum level nothing can make a bird fly faster unless its a stimulant i.e drug , peanuts do have to be fit for human consumption but tic beans or maples or peas a good source of protein
tiler Posted September 14, 2008 Author Report Posted September 14, 2008 Um I was joking However I understand your explanation thanks for that
THE FIFER Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 thia was a treble thread, so merged then together.
swilcox Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 The less you give um the better they fly. I have flown my ybs this year on Diet Extra, My own mixed widowhood food, Clean Water and oils 3 times a week with some brewers yeast & thats it. I did change the grit pots 1 or 2 times. Pigeon Racing is a simple game made complicated Pigeon Fanciers. Stuart

Stuart I agree with that Stuart i never treated my y/b's for anything at all until the week before our fed duplication race ( all they had was the paramyxo jag ) they got a 1/3rd of a flagyl tablet each on the sunday before our main fed y/b race and that was all they have had yet and i won 3 out of our clubs 6 y/b races sometimes well over 500 birds away
terry mccarthy Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 a good light mix with tk or red band added lightly oil it with liseed oil then add 2 scoops of poultry spice u cant beat it
