john@formula 1 lofts Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 The term champion can be very open and one persons champion is another's also ran. As already stated you have to look into the results to see the true facts and look beyond the headlines i.e birdage etc and look at the quality they are flying against . The organzation we fly in does not have huge birdage 500-700 birds but has some of the top fanciers in Essex in it as it's members have won the following in the last 2 seasons. it has to be one of the strongest clubs in the country Leigh – on-sea a club that has won 6x1st, 7x2nd,6X3rd,7X4th,6X5th,6X6th,2x7th,5X8th 1X9th 5X10th +39 other cards between 11th & 20th in 2 seasons in the NFC & BICC. I have a bird that i call a super rather then a champion she won the following in national and classic races. 9th section 20th open London & southeast classic 20th section 20th open BICC 5th section 64th open London &southeast classic 82nd section 88th open NFC 23rd section 75th open London &southeast classic plus club positions. In 5 races she has been entered in national and classic racing her worst position is 88th open. Yet her father i would class as a champion breeder as not only has he bred her he is also responsable for 1st sec (by nearly 10min) 6th open Central southern classic flying club as well as many other top performance birds inland racing. and still only 4 years old. The key is to do your home work and look at the quality the results are against
Tony C Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 There should be some kind of points system where a bird is awarded points for position/winning relative to competition/birdage etc. When a bird wins a point or points the owner gets it verified from the organisation and this is then registered with the union. Once the bird has acumulated a certain amount of points it can be awarded a champion certificate, then and only then can it be called a champion. Currently anybody can name anything a champion as some studs do year after year! They do something along those lines in the USA http://www.pigeon.org/awardguidelines.htm
hotrod Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 The SNRPC have introduced a new award (champions award) for a bird that wins a diploma 3/4/5/6 times from oversea's race's IT'S AS FOLLOWS 3x bronze award 4x a silver award 5x a gold award 6x a platinum award .We tried to introduce this 3/4 years ago but it didnt go through at agm.

These Champions Awards will be framed certificates with a photograph of the pigeon and its achievements listed. My best pigeon will be going for a Bronze this year all going well,he has twice been on the result from Reims 560 miles. So It is Reims again and hopefully he can win a Bronze Award. :)

jock3 Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 auld reekie should have been a double nat winner , if it had not been for the gutty hen
hotrod Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 auld reekie should have been a double nat winner , if it had not been for the gutty hen yes john but you's missed the chance to sort it.But your right its a champion as well .

hotrod Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 no some of the top table did , and its leaves a bad tastethe top table is not the snfc, the members are the snfc .THE members should have insisted that it was delt with.
jock3 Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 with the man at the top he would not let it be brought up , he has now paid for it with his job
hotrod Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 with the man at the top he would not let it be brought up , he has now paid for it with his job very similar to the way the SHU conduct their business.ONLY they are still in charge
maxwell Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 I always thought that The WHPU Trophey,s awarded each year were for the Champion pigeons of Wales at there respected category,s ie J.O.D Trophy Champion Young Bird, Taffy Bowen Trophy Champion Sprinter, Queens Cup Champion Long Distance ect. If we stuck to these titles there wouldn't be a problem as everybody is entitled to compete for them each year.
hotrod Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 tut tut hot rodWELL JOHN am i lying or can you not say on open forum.
