cemetary Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 How many of the guys on the forum have started to train there old ones yet, and how far have they taken them for the first toss, and have you occured any losses yet.
ALF Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Most of my doos have'nt been out the loft yet this year
cemetary Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 When are you going to start them Alf.
retired Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Plan to give the cocks a toss this afternoon i think from 10 miles as its the first of the year and have plenty of time to build them up. The plan is to give them a toss from the race point the week before the racing starts - Havent asked the courier yet though if he fancies doing it.
ALF Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Will start letting them out this week sometime but dont know when i'll start training as i dont usually bother with the 1st couple of races.I never went to the 1st 2 old bird races last year
johnkdownes Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Wouldn't mind some of that from race point Chris

john nico Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 well all hens been split for 2 weeks now the cocks are just starting to fly well around the house and the warm weather is just starting so give it another week before start training
retired Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Wouldn't mind some of that from race point Chris Spoke with Brian he is happy to do it, will sort out a day and see what interest is about town in it and Brian will sort a price out. Think should be looking at around 100 birds to make it viable. how far is your first race vallance First race is approx 68 miles John.
pigeonpete Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 took some late breds 17 miles yesterday, took em forever,
johnkdownes Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Keep me informed please Chriss will have least 20 if price is right
john nico Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 i would keep them short vallance a few 12 milers will do ye mines 98 so will have to have at least 1 30 miler
retired Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 They are on their way to a 10 miler, after maybe 5 of these they will go to 20 miles and a couple at 30. The chuck from the racepoint is something new but worked well for those that did it last season.

retired Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Your lucky had 14 strikes last year Your out in the sticks though John im in the slums lol ;D Not accounting for birds dropped racing or training as some must have been hit by the hawks but i think i have stiched one up in 5 years that has got home.
