blaz Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 I HAVE BEEN TOLD FROM ONE OR TWO FANCIERS THAT SOME BIRDS FLY BETTER WHEN THE VOLOCITY IS /EXSAMPLE ONLY/ LIKE STAFF VAN REET SCORE BETTER WHEN VOLOCITY 1300 TO 1400 YARDS PER MIN BUSSCHARTES AT1050 TO 1300 YPER MIN ANY TRUTH IN IT
OLDYELLOW Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 there is some truth in that but feeding / motivation can vary the outcome ;-)
just ask me Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 a lilttle but same as oldyellow depends on feeding and all the rest
dudley Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 its got nothing to do van reets bushearts ect,its what you put in tank ie its all down to feeding, get that right and your birds will do what ever velocity the wind speed will allow them to do hope this helps, dudley.
OLDYELLOW Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 and wind direction! there is that as well
fletch Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 have found that certain pigeons like diffrent winds had 1 blue cock scored several times with a west wind but any east in the wind and he would be well behind, cant find that any familys produce better results in velocity because there is to many factors make the outcome of the velocity, (weather condition, wind , feeding and lots of other things).

Personally I think that there are some strains of birds that do certain velocity,s,I know there is allways exceptions to the rule but for instance how many times do you here of a roland jannsen winning a 600 mile race with a velocity in the 800,s, or a kirpatrick winning a 100 mile race with a 2000 vel.not saying that its not possible but its not usual.

PIGEON_MAN Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 roland jancen is that a new strain or an old one never heard of one winning a 600 race yet Probably be a very long time before you do.

Sorry mate just can,t agree, you could feed some of these so called sprint strains the best food in the world and I bet you wont get them to win at 600 miles into a head wind.

just ask me Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 its horses for coures works the other way round too some of these distance birds wouldn't be in with a hope of winning a sprint race i know people will say thay had a pigeon that done this and that but in talking about a competitive fed there always an exception im commenting some one else here that said it on basics but usain bolt great at sprint but take a great marton runner wouldn't have a hope against usain but both are great runners

His one wing must be stronger than the other one.(LOL) Just kidding!
dudley Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 ok so you think im wrong ,fair comment, well what do i know, dudley
blaz Posted March 27, 2009 Author Report Posted March 27, 2009 the reson i asked the question is i had a good van reet cock and a good busscharte cock both feed the same 1350 plus van reet cock always won club yb and yearling 1050 to 1300 always the busscharte and both trained the same
jimmy white Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 there is some truth in that but feeding / motivation can vary the outcome ;-) would agree with o,y,,,,,,, but maybe add horses for courses and wind as well ;D
PIGEON_MAN Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 600 MILE RACING IS NOT THE QUESTON ON THIS THREAD .if it was i would have asked about janaarden etc Perhaps you could enlighten me as to what the question really is then as I was only answearing others that had replied.
BANDIT Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 HAPCO LOFTS USA RACE THE ROLAND JANNSENN STRAIN OF BIRDS AND THEY WIN OUT AS FAR AS 600 MILES, IF YOU SEND ENOUGH OF THEM TO THE LONG DISTANCE RACES YOU WILL GET SOME TO WIN LIKE ALL STRAINS DO. BUT I ALSO BELEIVE IN HORSES FOR COURSES ASWELL, ITS DOWN TO FEEDING HEALTH AND WILL TO GET HOME. BANDIT
maverick Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 If the bird is in the right condition it will win the bird does not know if it is 50 or 500 miles from home when liberated
just ask me Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 If the bird is in the right condition it will win the bird does not know if it is 50 or 500 miles from home when liberated quite true and have allways said that but i would say some type of birds are better than other others at a certain type of distance if i were to give u a bet on a 550 mile race a jan arden or a pure sprinting bird id know what most cases what people will choose and i think it works the other way round too
