never rely on wind at lib site to be either correct or the same at the home end, experience tells you to always be ready for impossible velocity just in case!

Maybe Phil but will also keep fanciers in the sport, my misses was only complaining to me how we don't have days out on the weekend in the summer because of pigeons. ETS would help no end, ok would have to be home for 5ish for knock off but can safely go out for the day, and perhaps I'm a softy but my family is important to me too!

WE HAVE ALL DONE THAT  well most of us i did it a few years ago when a member's wife phoned to say her mans clock had stopped , he was at work , so me being me said its alright i'll bring up master and reset it ,came back down and a blue cock sitting on board all pool's and nom and 3 birder ,after clocking he was 2nd club 2nd 3bird club 3rd fed, the moral of this is ,learn from this either get someone to watch for you or get ets simples ;)

To me part of this great sport is seeing the birds home, calling them down and clocking, doesn't matter if ets or manual, I wouldn't enjoy the race if I couldn't or didn't want to be there.

When a bird comes home can you guarentee its going to come straight in over the pad and not sit on the loft etc.

To me the only time i'd be happy or want to leave the ETS to get on with it is when we get holdovers and the birds are liberated on a work day, but it wouldn't be the same as seeing the bird shut its wings and dive for home! JMO

Wouldn't it be cheaper to let her have a boyfriend in the summer?

You don't have to be lazy to have ETS we still stay in the garden waiting for birds to come, but in an emergency it can be useful, I still get the adrenaline rush when they are due back and arrive at the loft, it will be my first old bird race next Sat since my husband passed away in 2006.
