Guest numpty01 Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 i bought a cock in and he has taken top notch from another dom cock who although the boss was fair and only concerned with his area the new cock is flying out so i cant put him in one of breeding pens or he cant fly ??now this cock regardless of what i do will remove everycock from their boxs and even the floor if he can most say get rid but im looking at next years breeding so no chance of that what advice can you give that may cure him all other birds were put in order by my old cock but not this one
Guest Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Lock him in his box for a fortnight and only let him out for exercise then back in his box. he will get the message. OR shut all cocks in their boxes and leave "bossyboots" out so he only has one place to roost.
Guest numpty01 Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 done bob and it aint worked he sat there for day then started alover again i had thought of tapeing him so he had floor space and let old cock give him hideing
pjc Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 seperate him and let him back in to the widowhood section 10 mins before basketing!
Guest numpty01 Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 he would have heart attack phil i tryed putting just hens in there but he did the same to them i wont cull him he is to ood a bird
greenlands Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Tie his legs together, leave about an inch slack so he can get about, when fighting he won't be able to keep his balance or get any leverage. He'll soon get fed up of getting a hiding.(Old Indian Trick).Lindsay

Guest peter.j Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 put him in a breeding pen but let him have his liberty
Guest asha Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I see you do not wish to give him the time honoured old fashioned treatment,(a pasting)so when he goes into another box, just hold him in yours hands, then turn him on his back,ie..upside downfor few secords, and put him back in his own box,he wont like that.
Guest numpty01 Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 asha i have bounced him round loft couple times straight out other box.s i did think i killed him once but after putting him in his own box painted blue the only box painted he carried on prob on steroids
Guest numpty01 Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 but i will cure him somehow oh and he is old bullcock so thats half his problem i think
Roland Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Tie his legs together, leave about an inch slack so he can get about, when fighting he won't be able to keep his balance or get any leverage. He'll soon get fed up of getting a hiding.(Old Indian Trick).Lindsay Very good advice.... one that most of us hear and know works.... yet forget. I for instance have been learning so much again this past 2 years that I'm amazed just how much storage has been tagged.... but forgotten.

Yep Asha that works... but usually one doesn't want to break his spirit! We notice, or should that building confidences up is all important. That every so often a 'Royalty' birds arrives and blesses us with their present. Thisjust ouze class, and every other in mate knows He's King, or Queen. They very often turn out to be the very best of racers, something special.... hate to know that out of one.... they so very seldom come along, and may - or may not - be bossy Boots. Found the one I was lucky enough to have was very territorial, but throughout it's life, even at 14, all inmates just knew his and their places, so was always a peaceful loft with every bird nowing it's pecking order.
gooner Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 find him a good woman, from what i have seen a good woman will breakl the best of men ;D ;D ;D
Guest phillip Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Every time he goes on a fighting spree , put him in a big paperbag and give him a few good shakes . This also work . Otherwise lock him away in his own breeding box for a while , then give him a hen .
Guest Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I got the solution to him knocking your other cocks about Chris ..................... Give him to me ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Guest phillip Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Hens normally have this behaviour with the breeding boxes . Whenever he does that . put him in a big paperbag and a few shakes . If that does not help , Lock him away in a breedingbox and when he is settled in , give him a hen . That should do the trick
Guest numpty01 Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I got the solution to him knocking your other cocks about Chris ..................... Give him to me ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D bob you can loan him mate but he will never go from here perminatly he is only son left from the rubarb cock i sold him as baby and have bought him back.. and now he flys out he untrained was 3club 4fed then sold
TonyW Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I was told a few years ago that pulling a cock from another cocks nest box and hitting or throwing him does no good as the rogue or dominant cock has to turn and his back on the cock that owns the box and either be forced out by cock whose box it is or give up ground and leave dont know if this is true but he did say dunk dominant cock in bucket of water for a few seconds so he is short of breathe then the cock who owns box has the upper hand and once the dominant cock is forced out by other cock he wont return
ally mac Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I had a similar problem at the start of the year Chris, nearly drove me mad! Once all the other pairs were eventually settled to their boxes this one cock was still up to mischief, ended up him and his hen only got out their box when I shut the rest up. Eventually came good and and all the boxes are open but what a performance.
Guest numpty01 Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 yes and thats the problem i want sort him out now as he wll cause havoc next year the sheds been peaceful till now but hy ho i shall try all surgestion.s and see thanks all ;D ;D
greenlands Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Copied from Phillip "Every time he goes on a fighting spree , put him in a big paper bag and give him a few good shakes".This is a great thing but miss the shakes out and put a chopped onion in the bag with him. This is also a good way of stopping a pigeon which you are trying to break and persists in going back to their old loft.Collect the pigeon from wherever put it in a feed bag with a chopped onion and leave it in for a couple of hours. They are not to keen on that treatment. Guest numpty01 Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 thought you were going say then fry and boil for twenty minuites
