The Navigator Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 I am taking 8 SU rung birds to Manchester from Plymouth tomorrow to liberate. They range from 05 to 08 rung birds. These have been collected in the local area. Do not ask why I have not phoned the owners, because they are not wing stamped and they are all double rubbered. Beggers belief how they got threw the marking stations.
gangster Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 if u posted the numbers they could be put on spc in bolton..

The SNFC do not allow birds to be wingstamped, which creates problems, as the SHU insist youngsters are wingstamped, so when you want to enter them into the nationals you have a problem :-/

Dont no if still the same but you were not allowed to have phone nos or contact details on birds going to national races m8 with snfc so maybe thats why they dont have wing stamps
sapper756 Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 no you dont you just get a blank stamp made up and stamp over the top I know that, however, why? :-/

sapper756 Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 we had to stamp the ybs on 3rd or 4th flight and hope they were moulted by yb national. good idea, how ever, why do the SNFC differ from the SHU, when the large majority of their birdage, is from SHU members?
Guest HighSpeedLofts Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 we had to stamp the ybs on 3rd or 4th flight and hope they were moulted by yb national. i thought they had to be stamped on atleast 3 flights

Guest HighSpeedLofts Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 the reason for that was that some people reported pigeons found out the owner was a top flyer and made the excuse that the bird had escaped and kept them. i agree this could be done but the fact is you get the details emailed to you right away

Beggers belief how they got threw the marking stations. Re the marking stations - you or I dont have any idea what these poor birds may have been through before they got to Plymouth???!!! If you even put some of the no.'s up on here I'm sure some of the scots lads will soon tell you what race point they were liberated from, they have had a couple of difficult races these last few weeks, you might have some of the lucky ones???!!! Apparently some birds been reported on the Jersey Islands from Alencon so they never really got a good start, from what I got told the sea mist came in on them. Thanks for taking the time to look after them its much appreciated, hope they get back safely.

Thanks for taking the time to help these birds get back up the road. You will know that Plymouth / SW England is well off-course for these birds, so they must have got into some serious bother to end up there. Not surprised they are now in poor condition, but rest assured they weren't like that when they were basketed for whatever SNFC race they came unstuck, we send to these races to score. SNFC Birdage is £2 to £5, so we certainly don't send them to lose them. Ring numbers would be appreciated - it does help knowing where our birds have got to.
blaz Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 I am not reporting nowt mate. Doing whoever a favour. If they are not wing stamped then not my problem. well i am glad we dont all take that approach. i have a bird in from lerwick race took time to find owner then phoned them gave some of my details then phoned them again to get it sorted for the bird going down next week via courier.also had to warm bath it as it was in a right mess, now it is taking up pen space and getting fed watered and cleaned daily .but now the old couple know their bird is safe well looked after for as long as it takes them to get courier sorted. she then asked how much money she was due me nothing i said the happiness and gladness in your voice is enough.
