REDCHEQHEN Posted August 1, 2009 Author Report Posted August 1, 2009 I don't want to know who makes them - which organisations are allowed to use them - as the NEHU are not

cowman Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 anyone know if unikon are going to do the chips to fit on life rings ?
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 anyone know if unikon are going to do the chips to fit on life rings ? I would think that all the ETS systems will have to bring out the chips eventually or else whats the point in having these life rings that hold them.
No 1 Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 I hope so, get peeeeeeeeeeed of chopping and changing ring's from old to young bird's for some of the careful flyer's in our club, Tight bar stewards. 8) :K) : :-/ ;D > :'( :X ??) :D :D :D
pjc Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 anyone know if unikon are going to do the chips to fit on life rings ? probably but you'll need 6 updates before they'll work ! lol ;D
wayne51 Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 3 members in our club have had 3 ets rings removed off race birds one from 550 miles race shame on you who ever you are.
Guest Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 3 members in our club have had 3 ets rings removed off race birds one from 550 miles race shame on you who ever you are. Do you know I wonder if it's not as malicious as you think, it used to be if you had a race stary in and it rested, you would remove a rubber to signify the bird had been in and of course in repect of the 500 mile races they would be double rung so would stilll have one to clock. Or am I being too kind?
REDCHEQHEN Posted August 2, 2009 Author Report Posted August 2, 2009 it does actually say NPO on the ETS, and is part of the ring by the looks of it
Guest slugmonkey Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 they are advertising universal ets rings here and I know the new benzings ( express, and M1 ) will read unikon chips
Guest Owen Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 slugmonkey, are you saying that we are able to use other than Bricon rings on our Bricon system? Because if that is true, it is great news. It will help to prevent profiteering which is the big temptation now with the big Companies. I have always been suspicious that the Manufacturers will not have the incentive to give us a chipped life ring because it would stop their income source from selling rings.
sapper756 Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 anyone know if unikon are going to do the chips to fit on life rings ? I believe a Scottish club are trying out the new register ring with a chip fitted to it, this young bird season
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 it does actually say NPO on the ETS, and is part of the ring by the looks of it Sounds as if this is not the same as I have, the Bricon one actually clips on the the side of the RPRA ring.
T_T Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 I thought the word " compatible " meant that it had to work with all systems. I know my Benzing ET rings work on Bricon and Tauris base units. The sad thing is that if your pigeon goes in a loft and has it's chip removed, it can be used on the "thiefs" ETS. They say they are tryng to incorporate the ET ring into the registration ring, I can see the downfall of that being that once the pigeon has been ringed, it's got it for life. If you have a team of youngsters go backwards and you have to lose them, you will lose the ET ring as well unless you can use them on other babies. I'm afraid it's a tale of if's and buts. I think I would prefer things as they are.

The idea is for everyone to have the new ring and then those that have ETS would thenl buy the chip for whichever system they have as you do now and then place the chip into the hole on the life ring this would then be allocated the same as we do now.

T_T Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Hi Pigeon-Man, Yep, I think I've misunderstood the using of a life ring. I thought the registration ring we all put on our pigeons, would have the ET chip No incorporated in it, just like a swipe card and therefore could not be removed. Still a long way to go then.
Guest Owen Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 PIGEON-MAN if I have that right, we would still have no way of preventing the theft that we have now?
