Guest redwhiteblue Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 hear hear and i've had none back our club has had 4 back out of 79 in the fed this year
Guest Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 i think some of the posts have been disrespectful to the boys that have been running their arses off trying to get pigeons back to their rightful owners, i do it for my own fed, collect the strays and take them to armadale and from armadale on a sunday back to my own fed, today i ran thru to edinburgh along with clockman and rembrant2coo and not 1 of us have mentioned money as we are doing it for the sport and for the fancier to get his bird back it is up to him what he does with it after that, please remember if you ever win the national and you lose a young bird off it and it comes to the stray centre you will be thankful for that bird back! ps some of the posts up here i think it is a kick in the balls to the guys who are giving up their time to help fanciers. firstly i do believe i have commended the fanciers that do make the effort to repatriate birds.I have not been disrespectful to anyone just my opinion and am entitled to have my beliefs, each to their own.
Guest IB Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Makes me wonder what those who reckon that stray centre is 'out of date' think should happen to their birds that for one reason or another, don't make it home on their own - and they don't want them back, even though they are responsible for them? I also wonder how the 'diseased' strays are only those that have been 'inside' with someone, and are therefore no good, yet the birds that have been out in the wild and come home in their own time, are somehow automatically 'healthy' (without disease) and worth a second chance? The law says we have a responsibility to our birds, duty of care, whether they are strays or not. In my opinion it is high time there was a network of stray centres operating during the racing season. What you do with the bird after you get it home is up to you. But before doing anything, remember that you can't claim credit only for winners, those that get lost are down to you too. You sent them.
willow Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Hi , my friend George alias clockman ! was picking up some today from Forth rd bridge , he was busy last time i spoke trying to find the owners . Why are the birds stray , if they have been in a race once they have rested if they are a bit lost why can't they just be tossed and find there way home . Isn't that what's supposed to happen they fly home to there own loft ? And why are so many birds getting lost from all the races ? My willow was lost for 28days from France and came home herself .
cheeseman Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 never seen so much poop writin on one thread, it seems every wants thier birds back but nobody wants to pay for them wether it be £3 or thirty pounds, there are people going out of thier way to help you,but its thrown back at them, never mind the knockers folks keep up the good work.
cheeseman Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 and while my backs up does that mean the lanarkshire boys dont want their ybs back after all the efforts from the unc and yorkshire fanciers and anybody else repatriating birds back to scotland

knoxjn Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 you are spot on rwb the work done by people to get strays home can only be congratulated but we live in a time when a ybd makes a mistake its useless look at what has happened in the last few weeks fanciers seem to think you can only compete with 50 birds so breed off everything some of them probably shouldnt have made it into the ybd loft
thunderbigbaws Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 Have not seen many on the national result that have stated came out of the stray centre as a young bird. i had a 2002 pigeon that came back in the stray basket twice, he went on to win 4 national tickets at 500 miles and won me a lot of money :P :P

Guest Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 when i was in partnership with another fancier we had a mealy hen that came back in the stray basket from the first race crawford at 39mls.I wanted too dispose of her but my mate said too give her 1 more chance, that hen went on too score at exeter 400mls 4 years on a trot in open racing i dont say they are all bad and the fact you are mentioning crawford means you are talking about a good few years ago martin there were next to no illness doing its round then, and there is allways the exception just like late breds how many do you breed/take back to find that good 1 and is it worth getting more than your bird back i dont think so
Guest Davy Fleming Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 Listen Guys, I certainly didn't come on to create a problem as far as strays was concerned and certainly didn't think the post would get the reception it did. We all have different views on things, which we are entitled to and voice our opinion and I suppose that's what democracy is all about and that's what we all do on this site. All I came on for was to THANK people for there hard work in which was very much appreciated by myself. So maybe is the time to forget about the post and move on and look to the future. ;) ;)
