I know a couple of good fanciers who used to train their birds just as it was getting dark so that they would actually have to spend the night out and work home in the morning, never tried it myself though and I don't think I would either.

I knew a man who used to do this regularly years ago, and he was always top of the pile on presentation night. Never tried it myself though, and certainly wouldn't these days, it'would only be supplying Percies with an easy breakfast.
Guest Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 FA Albin and Sons of Depford London, well known funeral directors in that neck of the woods, just phoned you with the number so you can find out which planks release at night.

vanlink Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 what is wrong with letting go at night? Some have done it for years. During the war the army were training pigeons to home at night. Birds sometimes home at night in races.
chickadee Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 We had a stray that would not come into the lofts so we tried to catch it when it was dark, it got spooked and flew/crashed into the trees so we are not doing that again.

pjc Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Before you all get on your high horses, does anybody actualy know if they were released in the dark as unusual to have a funeral at night, or was the scene shot in a studio where as has been sugested the birds are trained to fly from one basket to another! There are many shows at zoo's and parks where this happens every day! Lets have some facts before the mud slinging starts?
pjc Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 I've also worked on many film sets and as with everything else they are governed by health and safty rules which would also apply to the use of livestock!

pjc Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 So what you saying :-/. What i'm saying is if this was filmed as a TV production then it would be governed by health a safty and the use of birds would also be governed by rules and regulations. If they didn't meet the regulations they wouldn't have been permitted to be used!
