hey rich, have you tried the penny, it does work, ive been using it for years and ive found it to be pretty accurate, tie string about eight inch to a penny, hold just above birds back towards rump, hold still and penny will start to move head to tail direction for a cock, side to side or circular motion for a hen, it does work , honest.

hi. years ago how i did it was gently pull the birds beak if it struggled and pulled its head left to right we use to say its a cock and if it let ya pull and didnt struggle we said it was a hen . might be rubbish but give it a try . been out of birds a good while , but hope to start back up. cheers steve.

Hi all . I was shown to turn the bird upside down . Push the rear toe of a foot towards the front toes gently . If the toe goes towards the center , it is a hen . Should it go sideways , it is a Cock . It works for me most of the times .
