Roland Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Well, days end it boils down to you Either like the bird(s) offered or don't. You either are interested in buying or not, and the one main thing for me is the simple gut feeling. Do i trust the man :-/ Never mind like or dislike trust is another matter altogether. If you do and want a buy, then go ahead. If not just refrain from posting I guess. On a personal note, I don't need any more birds, for as many will know I've bought in well since my 'Poor season' etc. and past 4 seasons. I have one little grizzle hen though. one where I trust it's sauce. I believe it is bred from good stock and am hopeful. I went down just past Pauls in Abba for a Cock bird I've bought for her, and was hoping for Paul for an invite to call in strappers, but henever got the whiskey out so ;D ;D ;D.... Have since decided on another hen for that cock so... :-/ I have 13 - 14 hens spare.- Going to race them celibacy then mated. Was one of Pauls not sold i nearly went after, but am finding it hard to convince myself, let alone the boss with the purse that I need to buy again. Infact I don't to be perfectly honest. Where am going and what am I leading up to. Well being tempted to buy a cock for her, Jargre / White Knight seem to have what I feel could suit - So have decided to pm Jargre and ask him to sell me a birds because I trust his birds to be good. He has no need to lie to me... I'm not his wife or bed mate lol, but think IT will be a good decision. For lets face it I will have done stacks of bad decisions many times, and will again... time I stopped that eh!

swilcox Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Whiteknight i have had more stick than anyone and as you say its always from the same few yet for all the nonesense said the majority in fact 99% of people on pigeon basics are 100% top people, you just have to role with the punchs. Remember the stick i got when i sold the Dutch Open birds for £25 each, and winners that came out of that little lot ;D ;D

jack walker Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 hi stuart i bought 3 pairs of the dutch pigeons free delivery to doncaster bred 6 got 5 prize winners 2 with 1 st thank you jack
Simeon Turner Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 IT SHOCKS ME THAT SOME COME ON HERE JUST TO KNOCK SELLERS THAT HAVE PAID TO DO SO.WHATS IT ALL ABOUT IVE PUT UP BIRDS FOR 40 DELIVERED CLASS BIRDS THEY ARE BUT YOU ALLWAYS GET THE KNOCKERS THE SAME MEMBERS IF YOU DON'T LIKE KEEP IT TO YUOR SELF. One word why people do it - JEALOUSY If these same people put more time into actually flying their birds rather than try to get others down, then they may actually win something................................
Guest Owen Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 I think people are becoming wise to the fact that there are more poor birds sold than good ones. And very good birds are very rare indeed. The mojority of buyers are looking to upgrade their stock and are not looking for just pigeons. They are looking for better pigeons than the currently have, and that is not easy. There must be thousands of birds bought from the Continent every year, all with impressive papers. I have noticed that the majority of Fanciers that buy them do not win any more races and the losses continue to be horrendous. I would never condone the business of insulting people and certainly not any form of bullying, but surely anybody seeking to buy has the right to question the buyer and his/her credentials. There has been far too many birds bought that have turned out to be rubbish as breeders and racers. Providing that there is no aggressive nastiness, surely no-one would begrudge the potential buyer the right to criticacally examine what the seller is doing? I think it is time that Sellers were made to back up their claims so that, novices in particular, are given some protection from those who knowingly sell rubbish.
clayton moore Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Owen could not agree more.Fanciers today are no differant to any other generation of fanciers. They win little or nothing and blame the birds when in actual fact they are the culprit. If fanciers took a little time to read and study the basics of there sport instead of casting aspersions onto all and sundrie exept themselves. There are fanciers about who couldnt get Lassie to give them a paw. These same fanciers are at Blackpool buying the latest craze. Most fanciers birds they have are every bit as good as the birds offered.Read read read look at videos dvds, learn your art.Like i will ask you how many of you have cut the feather over the vent of an old cock. You have in so doing made things worse the stubble progs the hen she moves away hollow eggs.Lots of advice about utilize it.

Once again a 100% post from a wise man. All I will add to that is that a lot of people sell pigeons based on the fact that it is a "van" this or "van" that, and use the good name of established fanciers to enhance the selling power and potential of a pigeon, rather than state the "facts" about the actual performance and known ability of the pigeon in question. (I wonder how many of these good fanciers, cringe when they see some of the crap that is being sold using their good name and reputation).
swilcox Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Owwn you are 100% spot on with your post, one reason why i take the responsibility of selling pigeons very seriously and always try my utmost to care about what im doing!!!!

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Some people will always knock you for anything you do try and sell
Guest lenwadebob Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 hope to read all you words of wisdom, for a newbie looks like we are all in for a treat. ;D Just one small point I have to pick you up on. Just because someone is tagged as a "newbie" does not mean that they are new to the sport, but may have a wealth of knowledge built up over many years of keeping pigeons ;)

Guest lenwadebob Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 spot on Bob, Owen has posted an awful lot of good interesting posts, and I like to read them. Yes, Owen is a very knowledgeable pigeon fancier, and speaks his mind openly and honestly. It does make me wonder how many other knowledgeable fanciers refrain from posting for fear of being shot at.
