Ian McKay Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 JMO Think there is a question on how long the chip will last as I am finding after 2 /3 yrs the failure rate is high
Guest stb- Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 JMO Think there is a question on how long the chip will last as I am finding after 2 /3 yrs the failure rate is high NOT MUCH GOOD THAT IS 2 OR 3 YEARS , THATS POOR :-/ :-/
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 "The RPRA Clock and Ring Committee recommend the choice and manufacture of ring to the RPRA Council after exhausive consideration and the usual procurement processes." They are there to do a job weather some members are against any decision they make or not. END OF STORY.

Did the RPRA Clock and Ring Committee have a choice as to keep using the same type of ring we've used in previous years.
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 the chip that is im on about, tho they chips had a lifetime guarantee???? The chips from all of the different systems probably do but not the rings.
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 Did the RPRA Clock and Ring Committee have a choice as to keep using the same type of ring we've used in previous years. I,m not on the committee so I wouldnt know, you would have to ask the RPRA that.
mark croker Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 If the rings cost more and had the chip built in (unable to get it out) then i could see a problem, but it cost the same and just has two lugs on it, i just dont see why people have got a problem with it, if you want to put a chip on you will, if you dont then dont

Tony C Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 I,m not on the committee so I wouldnt know, you would have to ask the RPRA that. Would it be wrong if the RPRA Clock and Ring Committee wasn't given the choice.

tippler Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 a ring is a circle a ring with 2 lugs is not a ring
Novice Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 The non ETS fancier is definately being discriminated against. I am a member of RPRA and Shu. I normally buy rings from the RPRA but cancelled this years order as I have no intention of handicapping my birds with these monstrocities which can foul obstructions, and even damage the hen when mating. I appreciate that they may be more uniform once a chip is inserted but the last thing my birds need is a set of plastic spurs.
