swilcox Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Why dont we do something positive for PigeonBasics, my idea is to have a Champion Old Bird Trophy, Champion Young Bird Trophy, Combined Champion and New Fanciers Trophy. General Rules along the lines of each fancier can submit 5 old bird results and/or 5 young bird results (between 150 - 750 miles) with PB moderators deciding the winners based on the best coefficant, New Fancier Trophy for the best 4 results (old or young) for a fancier flying less than 3 years. All participants have to be members on the 1st of January of that competing year. The four winners could be presented with there awards at Blackpool at the PB stand or at a Hotel of Choice. Would give us all something to fly for.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 sounds a great idea , can me and Liz enter for the new fancier one as we have only been flying together for one year ;D ;D ;D ;D
catchthepigeon Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Could it not been done on the highest velocity
swilcox Posted February 1, 2010 Author Report Posted February 1, 2010 Yes Tam but you better win it or there will be red faces on the promenade!!! 8)

OLDYELLOW Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Could it not been done on the highest velocity could have a good escapee
swilcox Posted February 1, 2010 Author Report Posted February 1, 2010 Lets not worry at this stage about the nitty gritty lets get the idea off the ground and the detials will be sorted along the way!!! We could be basically talking about an award for the best fancier in Britain.
swilcox Posted February 1, 2010 Author Report Posted February 1, 2010 We can raise that money throughout the year quite easily, maybe medals would be better???

Should create a great deal of interest and the coefficant would be the fairest way of doing things although would prefer to have 2 of the 5 old bird races from over 300 miles.
pigeon Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 i would like to enter this is thts ok people.
marmite Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 sounds a great idea id b game prob b last though
marmite Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 does this apply to nationals as well say bicc and nfc
catchthepigeon Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 All participants could chip in or add it on to the entry fee Trophys would be better but they would have to be handed back every year.Perhaps trophys and medals the trophy you hand back at the end of the year and you keep the medals
swilcox Posted February 1, 2010 Author Report Posted February 1, 2010 Yes that sounds a good idea Gareth, You could enter any race result, club, fed, National, Combine etc.
Guest peter.j Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 perhaps the trophies for the piccies only and then handed back to have name etc put on but a medal or small plaque to take away it saves any mishaps like have happened in the past re missing trophies
Guest strapper Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Could it not been done on the highest velocity that would be unfair for welsh fanciers, as its well known that the velocities are greater in england than in wales.
maverick Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Great idea stuart and hope it works for you but look at the hurdles already all jumping on wanting it doing there way
BLACK W F Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Great idea stuart and hope it works for you but look at the hurdles already all jumping on wanting it doing there way bang on thats life is it ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D you will never please all unless just give every one a throphy
Tony C Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 How coefficients work. A formula is used to give the birds a coefficient number, this is formulated by multiplying the position taken in the race by 1,000, this is then divided by the number of birds competing in the race. Example; 3rd place in a race with 3978 birds competing is worked out as follows; 3 X 1,000 = 3,000 , divided by the birds in the race 3,978 = .754. This pigeon would have a coefficient of .754 for that one race. Each coefficient for each qualifying race is then added together to give an overall figure.
Guest stb- Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Does that mean that you would have to fly in an organisation with large birdage to win it ??? as that would rule a lot out to start with.
owen101 Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 would rule me out instantly as you more knowledgable and established fanciers will whipe the floor with me lol
