Hi all

Just wondering how many people feed SMA gold when youngsters hatch and if they feed it mixed in the water or added on the corn. I read on here it can put a lot of size into the young pigeons but wouldnt want them to get oversize or anything like that...

Have used it for the first time this year, based on the advice of my old mate pigeonpete. I use it in the water and have to say I have noticed a big improvement in the development of my youngsters. I do not administer it to the youngsters after weaning and found that there is no difference in the time it takes them to start perching.

Sounds good :)

Does it mix ok in cold water or does it need to be hot water to mix properly and allowed to cool before I put it in front of them?

Cold water is fine

i use lamb colosterum its just the same add to water but i find it better for the birds as little lactoes content in sheeps milk .

Where yi get that

1st day calf colostrum for me, have used baby food before but see more benefit from the colostrum as it contains antibodies that baby food doesnt.

When you look at the benefit differences between breast milk and bottle milk, breast fed baby are more resistant to illness than babies fed by a bottle, i have seen this first hand my first daughter was breast fed, never had any issues at all when a baby, the second one wasnt breast fed but feed with bootled milk and suffered with all the usual baby allergies like hexma, lots of colds etc.

thats why i choose the colostrum, Im gonna experiment when the widowhood birds youngster hatch, half will be fed colostrum and the other half baby milk on the corn just to see if my theory is right.

I will let you know how i get on.

So what your saying jas is that it would be better if i get my missus pregant and try and time it so shes had our baby in jan then get her a breast pump and then that milk would be better for my birds gd idea sounds expensive lol
