Guest stb- Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 do you think the pigeons would get used to an european eagle owl if i teathered one in the garden to keep percy and the sparrow away,i could also fly it in the eve around certain areas where there are certain nests ;) yes they would no problem and youwould get no bop in your garden aswell lave them out on a perch during the day and they will go mental if a bop comes near ;)

Guest lee duffy Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 Maybe the older birds would take a bit of time but I'm quite sure the youngsters would get used to it if exposed from weaning, after all they tolerate us. As usual some birds will handle it better than others. The other side is maybe it's not a good idea to get them comfy with birds of pray so don't really know the answer mate. Be good for flying morning and night though and I'm sure they Bop's would move out the area. well said agree with the above 100%

They pigeon wouldn't be a threat to their food supplies. And I down think in daylight an Owl would catch a pigeon if it urn on it... Yes might suprise one I guess. But believe that they would take no notice of each over at all after a few days.
Guest bigda Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 here you can tape and record the sound of the eagle owl http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/species/Eurasian_Eagle-owl
cowman Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 the rspb say the european eagle owl has no place in the uk but correct me if i`m wrong isn`t the uk part of the european union so surley that means the owls have a right to be here too.
