Out of interest, has anybody purchased stock or young birds from fanciers who have had phenomenal wins over the odds?

Have you found your stock or young birds gone on to win or breed winners, I read and listened to fanciers saying I bought Joe blogs birds and they was rubbish, is that because the fancier was not up the mark or was It the birds you purchased were no good, or was there other factors you feel were the cause or other idears why?

Opinions please

I both Mick. Both sport and money ... Their' nature is that they want the pastime / Hobby, but quickly also want to make it pay. First off just to cover costs, then a dual purpose for money with credit and  'Winning'. An unbeatable combination, as most move to purchase a prime location to boot. Yes some stay just where they are granted... In a good location lol.

So they also very often have 'Mr Wind' working for them too etc. etc.

no matter what birds you buy u will never get there system so it could take longer to get the birds winning straght away if they cant adapt to your way of racing

well, i have bought birds, or been gifted birds off top flyers, and not done much yet, but i have also given some good flyers ybs and they have won with them, but done nowt for me!! so yes would say the man and the system, and there housekeeping makes a big difference......

And time helps  ;)

But im happy as i am, only 1 way to go when your winning every week ;)

What in your opinion would you put that down to.

Kind of says to me if all birds are treated the same you're only gonna get an odd 1 that's any good and statistically that just has to be correct. Doesn't it ?????????????????  :) :) :)

I have had birds from various top lofts.

Some produce winner some don't.

I think it depends on just how lucky you are buying quality pigeons, whether they will work to your location and if they fit in with your system.

Once you have bought them you simply breed and race till you have birds which win on your system at the type of racing you enjoy.

Bad workman always blame there tools, jmo

Totally agree, although I don't blame anyone but myself. I take a relaxed attitude when it comes to my birds and don't take things too serious as I enjoy my birds as a hobby. I have gifted birds to friends who have scored quite well with my birds as well as their off-spring out to flying France at 500mls. On the network site there is a local fancier who had a feature article done on him A. Mc Crudden and he stated the best bird he had was a hen he got from myself that went on to breed him birds responsible for 11x1st fed wins, but he was willing to put the work in. I believe if you have good birds you must give them 100% to get the best out of them.

I like the saying "you can buy the birds but not the man" but reality is a bit clearer. If a TOP fancier breeds 60 yb's a year, by the yearling stage he'll have say 35 to race. By the 2yr old stage that will be more like 15 left to send 500 mls. IF he scores with 3 of them or even 4, he's had a good years breeding that year. So going to buy 10 off the guy the odds are still Very much against you having bought a top pigeon. Simple really!

What's this about bad work men blame ther tools. If you buy from National winning lofts it gives you a chance of getting better birds. It doesn't mean they are all winners. The top lofts in the coutry still lose and dispose of birds just less than most.

Thats when the 98% Shi-te rule kicks in and sometimes you may only get 1 to score out of 500mls.You could count in 1 hand how many good pigeons you have and remember Good Pigeons who are breeding and leaving Pigeons are not for sale unless they are by there Sell By Date. :( and aged at that :(
