Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 After your birds have laid and are on eggs do you alter your feeding or keep it the same ?
sapper756 Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Keep it the same, a good breeding mix, plus plenty good fresh grit available
Tony C Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Once laid out I feed 50/50 w/h mix/depurative. I cease feeding them in their boxes and feed them communally.
Lennut Tar Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 same Same!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D "Sort of" ;) I must admit thou, once the babies reach 12 to 14 days etc I do give them a few more peas for the protein factor, just to boost them up that bit more, till I ship them out at 24 days. Enjoy.
phillips Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 i dont alter my feeding as such but i do start to put more protein into the pigeons but i always feed them in there boxes aswell as a feed in a nest bowl on the floor as soon as they have got ybs all feeding is done in their nest boxes in galley pots as i find the ybs pick up the hang of eating by seeing their parents eating all the time and i do add baby milk to there feed thankyou jason
DOVEScot Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Tha same as usual, which is, a different feed every time carol reads a new method :'( :'( :'(
jimmy white Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 i usually add a little extra protein , increased near hatching , and as i said b4 a little babies milk powder in their water now and again,, plenty grit ,pickstones, minerals,,a must
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 we put them on a lighter mix until a week before hatching g mix
murphy Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 I feed 50% barley once they have laid for approx 10 days then back on full breeding mix. Bamfords breed & wean, extra maple peas, Homoform, layers pellets and usual grit, mins and pickpots. Murphy
retired Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 did i read somewhere Chris Gordon feeds his 100% barley up to the day of chipping ??
murphy Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 Chris does feed alot of barley. I personally feel barley is the most under rated grain we feed and people should listen carefully when fanciers like chris start to talk about its use and qualities.
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 I increase peas to help with milk formation also increase peas after hatching and feed peas in the box as well as increased in mix
andy Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 1/3 Breeding, 1/3 gerry plus, 1/3 barley until 3 or 4 days before hatching, then 100% breeding, adding Homon pellets or g10s or p40s and more peas at 10 to12 day old youngsters. Fresh grit every day.
883girl Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Same, as was advised by friends on here. Seems to be fine for us ;D
ALF Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Paired the birds up last week and have had them on 50/50/barley and breeding mixture and will continue on this until about a week before hatching is due to take place
Guest Paulo Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 feed my pigeons a little red band everyday in their boxes when the yb's hatch
Back garden fancier Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I read somewhere Chris Gordon feeds 100% barley all the time?
