Blue Chequer Pied Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 YES Why - Because we need to do something things cannot be left to go on as they are.
bewted Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 yes,,,pigeon fanciers best friend,,,maybe !!!
Guest bigda Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 yes its a good thing because if it was not for the pigeons taking the hits there would be no game birds left or black birds the magpies are starting to move out of my area as the small birds are all but gone so they are heading some where near yous :'( :'( :'( :'( :(
Guest chrisss Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 a simple yes for a change!!!!!, i am not affected by hawks [yet] but if we don't stick together we go down the pan together
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 my personal reason is to maney times i have had to rear by hand youngsters whose mothers have been taken by hawks we have 5 pairs introduced into a5 mile radious we also no longersee as maney finches or thrushes as we did and we never see skylarks anymore iused to lie in field listening to them on peacefl sunny day
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 i withdraw from this thread as im upsetting peaple
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 Yes, Anything that would possibly help stop the decline in members of this great sport should be adopted.
Merlin Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Something like this is long overdue, with it all apparently stacked in fovour of Raptors
pjc Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Yes, as pointed out there are many other sports / hobbies also suffering so we as pigeon fanciers don't need to be seen to stand alone! Phil
jimmy_84 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 YES, Because i have seen the destruction cause by the raptors
Guest Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Theres also this one which i have joined: http://www.save-songbirds.co.uk/ I think only way forward is to fight the united front, everyone wants the same outcome so why not? Heads together time, including linking up with the different online forums!
BLACK W F Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 yes too many killed injured lost to hawk strikes
alex wight Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 YES.There is an inbalance in the bird population, which needs to be addressed, NOW!!!
Fair Play Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Strange the voting does not reflect the hits especially on such an emotive subject
Roland Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 a simple yes for a change!!!!!, i am not affected by hawks [yet] but if we don't stick together we go down the pan together Snap, have two Sparrow hawks nest within a 100 yards ... had two attacks in the last 6 years or so... and none for three. They have a massive food store over the road, and old dialect Picture / theathre house. Good thing is that they got shot of the crows... hope they start on the magpis soon. Having said that haven't had the discs blowing for a couple of years so that could well be down to me.
jimmy_84 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Strange the voting does not reflect the hits especially on such an emotive subject this is because everytime we log in to check recent post's that is classed as a hit so this is why vote/hit ratio is different
DOVEScot Posted August 11, 2008 Author Report Posted August 11, 2008 They voting so far is 27 for, 1 against and 1 maybe If we say 30 members so far then out of 3000 members then only one percent is interested in the campaign so far, if you take the more accurate number of members(the active ones) I reckon is about 150 maximum then we are taking about twenty percent So we have between 80% to 99% of the membership that have no interest in the campaign so far :-/
Guest spin cycle Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 They voting so far is 27 for, 1 against and 1 maybe If we say 30 members so far then out of 3000 members then only one percent is interested in the campaign so far, if you take the more accurate number of members(the active ones) I reckon is about 150 maximum then we are taking about twenty percent So we have between 80% to 99% of the membership that have no interest in the campaign so far :-/ depressing isn't it...but then the number of members active never really seems to increase despite more members joining
Guest bristolkev Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 yes....songbirds are defenseless against hawks and so is our athletes of the sky so it`s time for a big change....natures balance is`nt moving quick enough so it could be too late for some spieces of birds before nature sorts it out!
Guest mikkey Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 something needs to be done i started with pigeons last autumn, as soon as the cold weather came so did the hawk, i lost 8 birds in 6 months to the hawk then 2 or 3 more this summer, soon the cold will come again with the hawk. the government cant take away every hawk and they wont take away any hawk so were all up sh*t creek and thats a fact
DOVEScot Posted August 11, 2008 Author Report Posted August 11, 2008 but 80 90 have a comment Yes but they are not interested enough to post it :-/
Merlin Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Give it some time yet,its a very good idea, and I feel sure when more understand its our only recourse to doing something positive with the current laws of the land, pretty sure more will excercise their rights to try protect their lofts and pigeons, because sadly its a big and ever increasing problem, affecting lots of us to day,and without something being done to curtail them, its eventually going to get worse, and will in time affect all of us,to ignore this fact now would show scant regard for our pigeons.
