kev01293 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 when reporting strays the conversation usually works its way around to bops but every now and then i get a fancier who says he doesnt have a bop problem, are you one of the lucky ones ? kev :-/
Guest bigda Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 is the office still open no reply as yet :X ;D
Craig05 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Kev i hope i dont kick myself for saying this but havent had a single one yet and trained yb's to 78 miles. i have had one hit the wires though but thats it. started with 25, dropped one early on and thats it. got 24 in the loft including the one that knocked itself :o
carlsberg Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 not had a strike since april and i hope it continues that way
kirky Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 no trubble around the loft but been hit in training & racing.
Guest Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 In answer to your thread heading Kev01283 ..........NONE. No one with birds at liberty or sending birds training or racing who do not get 100% returns can eliminate the possibility of a BOP strike. The only people who can say they have not had a strike are those who have studs or do not allow their birds any freedom - FACT
flyingteessider Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 i have magpies surrounding my house seem to keep the hawks away touch wood
Craig05 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 i have magpies surrounding my house seem to keep the hawks away touch wood So do i! do they keep them away? first i have heard of it.
Guest stb Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Not sure about magpies but i seen the crows after the hawks before now and i seen the gulls here and buzzards chasing them offthe crows are quite good at chasing bops when there not in hunting mode but when they are there nowhere to be seen only retuning to make a fuss after the kill.
Roland Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Well have to say no problems regards the B.O.P. ... but of course we in this neck of the woods know they are just around the corner. Yep the crows etc. will bomb them... Till they feel hungry then they make short thrif of them. Likewise the Gulls... But then again strange that as the Falconers use their Hawks to frighten them off... officially, but seems that once caught the gulls and crow families are up to much after all.
kev01293 Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 im suprised but pleased to hear that some of you are not being hit by bops and long may your good luck continue ive seen the crows chasing a hawk myself so i encourage them now with titbits and as for the cats i know how you feel vallance as i had problems with a cat myself but luckily the neighbours/cat moved so i dont have that problem anymore all the best kev
The Navigator Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 I am glad that a few are not having any trouble. Come down to my lofts and you will have a shock. Two days running with two perrys chasing them last night. You are the lucky few, it all depends where you live it looks like. Around the loft and training is like nigtmare on elm street.
