All week we have all been talking about the BOP and RSPB i am right in saying this .Anyone who has an opinion is shot down for various reasons being outspoken and i am going to name a few here like Rembrant2coo -Harry .Clocky -George, Dovecote -Duncan ,Jimmy White , Joe Murphy ,Gerald McPherson ,and possibly myself Willow -Avril get crucified .or we are not very liked in the sport .Now all of the above for one reason or another don't talk to each other but they like to get a point across and get heard .So what i am suggesting here might actualy get something done but it won't happen over night .And if everyone pulled together and spoke and acted collectively we could .not we can't ...........I can be the go between as im nutural to you all .............

BOP .......i am suggesting that we set up a new website regarding the BOP and what they are doing to the bird population and making it available  to everyone to see and support not just fanciers ,it will then be compitition for the RSPB ,they can come on and see what is being said , it can have its own members and support and make it more wide spread .Let everyone see pictures of the damage they are doing and the support it will gather .We can get MP'S onboard and all over the country member can have there say without it being a thread which gets closed .It would have to have comittee members from different parts of the country to represent there area and they could collect information within that area to put on the web site and then collectively have evidence to support what the BOP are doing by not being culled and reintroduced to areas where they are doing greatest damage .

I am not going to be able to do this myself Oldyellow and others will have to be involved as well as the above .We have to find someone to set up the web site have a few meetings with them and go from there . We could have some suggestions and a big meeting to establish what to do and who can help and give there time .If we need funds well i am sure we can raise them by having dances ,selling birds as we do for other charities on here . If we can get all the other fancier's sites involved also we could have a tremedous membership and then we can do something about this problem within the sport and garden birds also .

It is a start if in 10 years time there is no sport who then will we blame or throw stones at for not doing anything .Be positive if anyone else has a better idea everyone would like to hear .This is mine it might be way off but then again it might just take off .Willow -Avril  you can email me on . avrildouglas@aol.com

I agree with Les. The RSPB is a multi million £ business that lobbys the European Parliament at the highest levels. It is THAT parliament that dictates our laws re: BOP. Minority interests don't get a look-in. Any effective lobby from the pigeon fraternity would have to be backed by hard science, not anecdotal tales of lofts loosing birds to BOP's, or the thrush at the bottom of the garden being eaten by a Sparrowhawk. And lets face it, domestic cats eat more songbirds than BOPs do.

If we want to secure the sport for the future we'd be better off putting more effort into attracting youngsters to the sport and making the sport more accessible to those who have had no previous contact with it. JMO  ;)

great idea if you can get this going willow i think it would counter act the likes of what frank123 put up yesterday i think we should push the war hero,s thing for the birds with the medals lets face it if you name the site anything to do with pigeons all you will get is fanciesr going on and put there toupence worth in thats not what is needed a heading like war hero,s will get the public going in to see whats what but all that will require a lot of time for some to police the site but best of luck i dont think getting funds is a prob. go for it  ;) ;) ;)

can we have a  face book site just to dump photos  of injured birds and  just state how you found the bird,  and what did it,  i am sure we can full it up over  the year with photos of mutilated  birds,    no need to elaborate on them just up load yer photos   as the horrors   from the hawk keep  uploading it  and it will soon get about  you will be only showing the true  facts

you would get very little responce ,people are not interested ,but if you was to change it to injured  or poisond BOP , then you would see a huge response ,because the RSPB have brain washed millions of people .try it and see .

And the RSPB will smile its greasy smile, wash its hands in invisible soap as usual, and murmer that "Nature is red in tooth an claw".  Your best bet is to do what has to be done and shut up about it. But DO it.  Not talk about it like so many did last January, full of Grrrrr and snarl!!! Then a weak smile and add the LBs to the stock loft.  Some didn't though, and they're smiling now, for a while.

You will get my support no matter what u do, I have tried the facebook thing and it didn’t work, but  u have to  keep persisting with cause, the more people see it in their faces the more it will register, people didn’t start wearing their seatbelts straight away after the first ad ,and the same with mobile phones, we must Never give in. I would like to think there will be racing in the future..
