Novice
I had a similar experience today but had no cricket bat handy. The youngsters took fright and off they went. I am one short and it was not the bird which the hawk struck.

Guest pied 09
had a very close escape friday morning , he singled out my blue badge and was gaining on her as they flew directly at the loft. at the last second she took a dive behind my feed shed and he missed her by inches. MikeMason
I had a sparrow hawk attack in January. Chased the birds but didn't get any. The sparrow hawk went missing 5 minutes later. Never to be seen again. No idea what happened to it .
