frank1 Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 does any one practise this theorie and wot are ur views on it
gooner Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 i have paired my birds up using this theory this year, as i am only starting up again i only had info on some birds and strangely the birds that people had said had won 1st prizes or bred 1st prize winners have all got very good throats. only time will tell if its true
Sajfos Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Was sceptical about this until My Friend Paul (Ulsterlofts) , urged Me to check the throats of My best Breeders / Racers & they ALL carried the top marked throats !
peterpau Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Was sceptical about this until My Friend Paul (Ulsterlofts) , urged Me to check the throats of My best Breeders / Racers & they ALL carried the top marked throats ! So do all those with a good throat make good racers. I think I may know the answer.
Guest Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 So do all those with a good throat make good racers. I think I may know the answer. this is the only thing i look for in a pigeon racing or breeding.this has worked for me in the time i was racing and ive bred many winners for others .ask f tasker about the throat ;)
Guest Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Well let us into your secret. SECRET ;D ;D ;D ;D
hepste Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Well let us into your secret. No secret. At the back of the throat, there is a curtain arrangement, that ends at the bottom with a jagged edge. Basically, the arrangement, in a good throat, is a straight vertical line, without any imperfections. You have to ensure the throat is checked when the bird is not subject to any stress or this will give a false impression

Beanz Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Surely if it has what they call a good throat it only means its healthy just like a bright clear eye, think thats all it is a theory, its whatever suits. Paul
hepste Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Surely if it has what they call a good throat it only means its healthy just like a bright clear eye, think thats all it is a theory, its whatever suits. Paul It's not only a healthy throat, but one that, during flight, can efficiently channel the intake of oxygen to the lungs. That's just my guess!
walterbmasson Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 a good curtain acts the same as an oasis for a camel it gives the bird extra moisture for a drink but if the throat is not open the curtain wont do its job any curtain missing the birds had canker and leaves a weakness at longer events 8) 8)

Paul
Guest Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 good healthy pigeons win races simple ;)it has worked for me and many other fanciers up to classic level but the bird must be a good one from the start of its life
schouwman71 Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 so if its a good birds theres no need to check the throat then,so winner to winner should breed winners ie with good throats, sounds simple to me but in reality ? the basket is the only decider, keep the ones that win get rid of those that dont, and some bloody good management. Les
Guest kev d Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 another thing to look for in the throat well i do this anyway i got told this years ago when you open the beak the tongue as to sit flat on the bottom beak if it lifts up it cant breath right when in flying mode , and the slit in its top beak as to be open whats your thoughts on this ???
schouwman71 Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 another thing to look for in the throat well i do this anyway i got told this years ago when you open the beak the tongue as to sit flat on the bottom beak if it lifts up it cant breath right when in flying mode , and the slit in its top beak as to be open whats your thoughts on this ??? seem to find this on over weight pigeons,if there flying out and well there tounge will lie flat, over fed birds will lift there tounge due to being over weight and finding it hard to breath, les
