Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 the wing. what makes a good wing narrow flightes or wide flightes heard that wide flights are good for distance birds but not sure myself
weecunny Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 thats what av heard but is it true lets hear from the distance boys
hotrod Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 heard that wide flights are good for distance birds but not sure myselfwrong mate narrow flights especially the last four no's 7,8,9 and number 10 flights for long distance birds
REDCHEQHEN Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 What about the flexibility of the wing? I was looking at the wings / flights of some of the birds today - and most 'snapped' them back - except one - whose wing seemed totally different - it was 'relaxed' - hard to describe really - the latters sire won at 400 miles - but would say the majority of my birds would be classed as 'sprinters'
b.massey Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 wrong mate narrow flights especially the last four no's 7,8,9 and number 10 flights for long distance birds Thats intresting Stuart. I always believed wide flights for the distance myself. And me being a guy that shows my racers too lol. I always put my wide flighted pigeons in the likelist 500/400 miles class too. Oh well
Taylorsloft Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 wrong mate narrow flights especially the last four no's 7,8,9 and number 10 flights for long distance birds i must agree with hotrod
Guest IB Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Had always thought the last 4 primaries were narrow, with their shape causing a gap between each of these flights (heard expression, gaps you can shoot peas through); but first 6 primaries are wide with no gaps? There's a step in there too which is said to be 'good' or 'desirable'. Mine are just throwing their 1st primary just now; note some not happy about offering their wing for opening, and 'snap back' closed. Think there was a post on here on this? Intelligent pigeon offers its wing? Then I've a few not-so-intelligent ones.
Guest Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 nobody else look at the wing then. yes its the 2 things at the side of the bird is it not??
Guest Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 not sure frank thats why a was asking well i could be wrong again but i do know they need 2 one on eash side
