alec guinness Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Alec what age was the Hen he was up with.He must be a right yin and i bet you would not have purchased him at around 11 years of age and for the sums they are quoting. the hen was a good doo we had called buckingham belle, lost at alencon at 7yrs old,and yes i would not have bought him at the above age, sire and dam of the old boy won £5000 between them in snfc and scottish west coast combine, the hen winning 4x snfc certificates best being 2nd and 3rd section and the cock 1st 2nd and 12th combine. ;)agree would not have purchased at 10 or 11.ps liked the kilt. :) :)
showman Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Makes it all the more important the fact that it was a yb breaking from that amount of pigeons to make its way home. Absolute super yb and a great result. Thanks for that
Shortcut Lofts Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I also have to disagree simply because i have two 1998 nestmates (cocks) who are still producing top birds. Last year one of them produced 1st, 4th, 10th, 24th, 26th NIPA Section E up to 6000 birds and 4th, 10th, 40th, 81st, 154th NIPA Open up to 29000 birds. Last year i got 10 ybs from these two cocks. SL
ritchie1 Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 i have a stock cock 14 years old and got 6 off him last year and another off him this year and thats what i have started my stock with as he is double grand son of my late uncles stormqueen and the younsters i got off the children this year are cracking birds so thats rubbish about old stock birds
swilcox Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I have a cock who is 14 year old, he was 6th National 17th International Barcelona in his day, i hope i get some off him this year.
BLACK W F Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 i think guys yous are missing the point£500 for an old ck out of a stud not for me but if i was at an auction /clearence sale no problem i would buy old proven stock birds there are plenty old stock birds breeding top class quality birds you just slip the eggs under feeders the only reason they get to that age is because what they have produced otherwise would be long gone
BLACK W F Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 i hope you do Stewart he looks a belter
marmite Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 never would pay that sort of money for any bird full stop
