Why do you want Roland Janssens? Is it because they are grizzles? Or because you think they are going to produce winners for you?

I agree with Owen, but the fact that every current bird in RJ's loft has been outcrossed to others, or even bred by others, tells you something.....

Afraid you're believing the hype that some would have you believe - Roland has outcrossed and brought in new birds every year for the past thirty odd years! The same as most the good Belgians do - it aint anything new!  :-/

They are out and out sprinters and supposedly ideal for racing inland down the leg(80 - 160 miles) - a few club members have them and have done well with YB.  Grizzle sells and have been bred for this colour because it does, LPW will no doubt have "miscoloured" ie blues(same way bred) for sale on their stand as opposed to white/black grizzle ones in the auction.  Not unlike the situation with Staff Van Reets - red hens sell blue ones move out slower!!!!

Different strokes for different folks! Back to thread - if min bid £60 I'd say the 09 birds are worth roughly between £60 and £150 but auctions are auctions!

Wouldn't bother personally. Many a good fncier around doing the honours with many different strains. So I for one can't for the life of me believe, let alone understand, why the bird at Blackpool is 50% dearer. I'd wager that because they are bought there it doesn't make them fly faster, and certainly won't make them 50% and more better.

So I'd buy some Equipment / troughs Et's or anything what have you that is seen to be a lot cheaper and worth the effort of carrying it all the way home. Good maybe... Pigeons?  :-/ :o :o :o Never! And that includes the only decent bargains that will be going Louella's.

Bet they are some belters and including those not sold will be a blumming lot cheaper on a sunday morning at his stud farm!

I don't doubt he has thunder but seems to me there has been a big change last couple of years. And I'm not believing anyones hype, I just looked at the birds currently in his loft - 50% RJ's blood at the most. Most folk do bring in new blood, I'm just surprised at the % of new blood he's brought in, which suggests to me his birds were not as good as other peoples.  :)

I like his birds though, I've got some here.

TOO BE HONEST I THINK THE PREMIER  ROLANDS WILL GO FOR HIGH PRICES SEE WHO IS DOING THERE AUCTION!! ;) ;) AS FOR ROLAND GO LOOK AT HIS PERFORMANCES AND THEN YOU MIGHT SEE WHY HE IS TOP DOG IN THE CITY OF BEVEREN ;) ;)...AND HAS BEEN FOR YEARS.....AS I POSTED ON ANOTHER POST  THERE ARE FAR MORE WINNERS/BREEDERS OF WINNERS THAN THE 11/12 IN THE FAMILY

I can see how you could come to that conclusion. Point is on Roland's website you're seeing direct Roland Janssens pedigrees. The names associated with the crosses Roland makes miracoulously disappear when pedigrees start being written by some others. If you look closely at the pedigrees of the Premier directs and any other direct for that matter you'll see the names of: Raf & Lars Luycx, Kevin Roosens, Roger Lismond, Jos Van der Veken, Leon Wandels, Marcel De Sorte, Erik Bergmoes, Henk De Weerd, Vleugels Wuyts, Jos Huygens, Jos Van Den Brande, Gust Christiaans, etc etc. They're not a family of white and grizzle pigeons based around just one or two principle pigeons just as Mick says!  ;)

Both mate i have been lucky and had really good racers and breeders in my loft that have been gift birds, some years ago i had the misfortune to have a stoat get in and kill a dozen hens anyway an old boy gifted me some hens so i could race cocks on widowhood 2 of those hens bred me very good birds that won several channel races, through friends in the sport i have exchanged birds with over the years and fanciers have done very well with my birds so it proves that you dont have to spend big money to gain success

Another example was a few years ago i paid out big money for two pairs of birds from a top fancier anyway after 2 years they had bred nothing for me , i got talking to a big mate of mine who was interested in this strain and was looking to buy some in i told him he could have the two pair for nothing so he came and had them end result they have bred him 4 fed toppers ! he takes mickey out of me all time over them but again you pays your money you take your chance,
