did i hear or read somewhere,that hens with tusks are good breeders im sure its something along the lines :-/not elephant tusks either  ;D

yes mate also one of the lads from murray & mills if they got tusks on wattle he has said before they have turned out to be good breeders but dont no if its just word of mouth or aqually the truth but you no theres only one way to no if there good breeders by breeding from them and trying the youngsters on the road buts thats jmo

manny a good hen is condemed  more so now as good doos get nailed,  and you start thinking  they are no good together, as the young dont make it,  till you find it  has  been killed    1 mile out from yer shed

yes i have seen and handled a few and all been great breeders on our recent trip to belg i handled a cracking breeding hen top notch and was lucky to have a couple from her  ;) ;) ;)

believe the so called tusks are wattles from sides of lower beak which i refer to as manable wattles ;) ( excuse spelling ) most of the older breeds had these old jansens and some Bushaerts  ;)

was at southern and masons lofts yesterday,i picked a smashing pair of soontjens out and the hen had tusks i mentioned it to him,think he thought i was maaaad  ;D ;D

Some families have them and others don't.

Whike I had a lovely Porter and Richardson pigeon with these which bred 3 several handy birds I also have better breeders which don't have tusks.

Dont know why but i have a liking for hens with breeders tusks and i found that hens with these always breed top young, maybe its a sign of strength, health or vitality

Not a pigeon but shows the tusks clearly :)

Those ears would come in handy in a hard race, he he he ya nut!
