gooner Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 well i have 2 teams of 30 the 1st team i have trained upto 20 miles the 2nd team are ranging about 2 hrs. i had a plan at the start of season to send the 1st team to the 1st 4 races then stop them the 2nd team will compete in the next four races, as thats what our race program enables me todo, so far every thing is going to plan, losses are 6 off the shed and so far none training. as for the moon and sun in the skyb together well yesterday they had there 1st toss from 20 miles and beat me home, today they went again and came back over a 2 hour period all split up so i think there is somethingin it

Guest pigeon82 Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 i lost 1 in training and i sent 17 to my first race i know it was only a fed race but i had 14 drop together and i took first 3 spots in club and got all 17 home from 76 miles im overwelmed cconsidering i aint raced in 10yrs so i have had no problems with young birds touch wood
greenlands Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Set off with 32 missed first race due to having had ybs and what's this you've got written down"please dont count hawk attacks...just losses through normal causes".I now consider that's a normal cause where I live. How do you know what's happened to them on a training toss, hawk or clashes ?? Anyhow have 18 away at the moment and 1 in the loft, tell you better after 1 o'clock.Lindsay
Guest youngzimmy Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 HAD FOUR COME BACK IN WITH THERE RINGS CUT OFF
Guest Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 i think there alot of truth in that but i dont no the reason as you said would like to know, One theory is that birds navigate by the angles of the suns rays at any given time of the day. The moon acts as a reflector of the suns rays, hence the reason that it can be seen. When both the the sun and moon are visible in the sky during daylight hours there are two completely different sets of angles of the suns rays in which the in built navigation system of the birds has to contend with and therefore they become disorientated.
pigeonpete Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 HAD FOUR COME BACK IN WITH THERE RINGS CUT OFF ?? how strange to have 4 has this happened before? scumbags should be banned really cant understand why someone would do this? very puzzling :-(

Guest IB Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Lost 3 off the top and 1 training (under 10 miles). Birds do seem unusually nervous, though there doesn't seem to be any reason for it?

Guest strapper Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 i think the BIG problem this year is no one reporting them.....i know we hear horror stories about fanciers not caring a fook when phoned about their yb,s but mine are double stamped on each wing plus a yellow phone number ring...i cant understand why none have been reported locally...must be keeping them for stock because everyone knows ive won 20 nationals ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D but seriously 1-2 should by law of averages gone into someones loft??

Guest shadow Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Can anyone tell us why birds get lost when both sun and moon are visible??? It is said to be the disruption in the magnetic force fields which the pigeons use to home on.
Tony Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 I have lost 2 from the loft and 2 from training not racing young this year.
