van Roberts Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 im thinking of buying distance youngsters next year from louella for racing. instead of distance stock from here there everywhere to breed my own younsters am i doing right thing?
tippler1 Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 if you buy young and you lose them thay are gone but if you buy stock you can breed again thats what i think but its up to you hope it helps
bewted Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 theres enough fanciers around your area or not too far, that you can get better young ones instead of louella !!!
bewted Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 if you buy young and you lose them thay are gone but if you buy stock you can breed again thats what i think but its up to you hope it helps intend to agree with this also,,,,get your stock now and you can breed your own rather than buy and lose them, but, stock you can breed to replace what you lose !!!
Guest karl adams Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 i would buy from off some one who is racing them and winning with them
van Roberts Posted October 3, 2008 Author Report Posted October 3, 2008 bewted so you would buy younsters instead of stock birds?
OLDYELLOW Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 better to buy from flying lofts if you can , save your B.H.W during racing and then read the B.H.W during closed season and see what lofts are performing at the distances you want to improve on , then you'l get good birds but the advice on how to fly the birds you wont get from Louella but you will from most flyers
van Roberts Posted October 3, 2008 Author Report Posted October 3, 2008 were you buying the delbars from louella ?
OLDYELLOW Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 yes i have bought many birds from Louella but if i could get them from a flying loft id be much happier , most of fliers that had Delbars that i liked are no longer here , Jack Roberts , Pete Bolton .................... so sometimes i buy from Louella to get the ones i want , i suppose i could go from Delbars to Belengie Delbar to the modern day Delbar Jos Thornes or try the Raevens
van Roberts Posted October 3, 2008 Author Report Posted October 3, 2008 thanks for your replys just a bit worried about paying good money for a stock bird not turning out any good i know its a gamble
OLDYELLOW Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 same gamble anywhere you go but im sure you would get better birds from a flying loft as they have been bred from current winners and not generations of untested birds
jimmy_bulger Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 think the best delbars around were the birds of staf duserduyn of holland, think he holds the record in holland for the most 1st nat wins think he 's won 16 or 17 1st nat's
Guest karl adams Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 i have a pair of cattrysee from louella,s but i only have the certificate of origin but i would like to know the family which they come from ( pedigree ) if i phoned them would the be able to tell me
van Roberts Posted October 3, 2008 Author Report Posted October 3, 2008 i would say if these were really special they would come up with the parents i know were people have done well with the 99 for six brought them back then pedigrees appears
OLDYELLOW Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 i have a pair of cattrysee from louella,s but i only have the certificate of origin but i would like to know the family which they come from ( pedigree ) if i phoned them would the be able to tell me give them a ring and have ring numbers i doubt they keep records out of the none pedigree birds , but worth a try if they have bred you something you maybe able to buy the parents
Ronnie Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 If you buy as youngsters and race them at least you will get a good idea if there any good for stock bird's .But as its been pointed out if you buy stock birds you can breed more youngsters to race. But as allways the pedigree you get is only as true as the person writing it and that applies to every pigeon be it from a big stud or small team fancier.
Roland Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 I'd buy Louella if I was of mind and nary a worry. Has bred and sold International winner, both here and abroad! Not many around in my Fed doing that! JMO
Novice Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 I know a very good distance flier from York who buys from louella. He buys youngsters and races them before thinking bon breeding from them. He feels that if he buys youngsters and tries them then he will be left with those which suit the type of racing he does and also his management.
van Roberts Posted October 3, 2008 Author Report Posted October 3, 2008 novice thanks for your reply i think this want im trying to say i think i would like stock that have done the distance than a piece of paper
Guest karl adams Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 i phoned them up and they say they keep no record of the young birds
just ask me Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 i would buy from loullla at the price hey pay for birds then u pay very little one hint is to stay away from 3 4 5 year old birds as these are tried and tested and u have to ask yourself why are they selling at least when u buy a youngster u dont know if its a heap of dirt or a right one up to yourself but for the price u pay a louella thers nottin wrong with them as they buy what they think is the best and pay the money too just a tought even if u buy your stock else where they are a great option to build up your team in your first season
