Good luck john whichever you do.  Personally prefer racing hens more honest, especilly at the races I like.  But 2009 sees me with strong team of cocks so maybe there will be performance there :)

Her eye looks as though it has a problem, but she is just winking for the camera lol

Hi

I have aquired a yellow (red) kirkpatrick hen, lovely looking bird.  Just wondering the best partner for her really, I have a blue cheq kirkpatrick cock bird, would that pairing produce more of the yellows possibly?

Both Red and Dilute are sex linked genes so pairing the yellow hen to a blue cock would give red cocks and blue hens.If a red cock from this mating was paired back to the yellow hen you would get

red cocks

yellow cocks

red hens

yellow hens

blue hens

silver hens

to me that is not a yellow but a dilute red.

Yellow is dilute red

the yellow gene i believe is a faulty gene between two colours red a white white been a lack of pigment and the yellow been a faulty pigmented red indeed yellows will bred both whites and reds the reds more chocolate but the yellow gene although not visable / dominant is carried by birds it breeds like silvers and silvery reds

There is no yellow gene.Yellows are the combination of the colour gene Red and the colour modifying gene Dilute.

White is not a colour gene either but another colour modifying gene

My white Kirkpatrick x Spangle cock flew Palamos 751mile this year so they are still good for the distance.

they are the birds that my father used to fly years ago and he used to do well with them.i know they are a very old breed of pigeon, but i cant seem to find out much about them.
