coey Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 could anyone tell me how much food to give my birds? i was informed to feed a small handfull per bird but when i go into my loft the birds run around the loft with their wings in the air as if they are still hungry?
majorpet Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 if birds are not being raced 1 oz/bird /day-and once a week 1 and half oz. give the birds a good mixture. majorpet
timbarra Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 when you feed the birds give some small seeds in the morning only a little though, when they have finished exercise feed them until the first couple of birds go to water for a drink, then as time goes on in future you will notice which birds need a little more and which need a littl less. they are living animals treat them like you love them, not robots. watch them they will talk to you in many ways. hope this helps regards spencer
Guest Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 Having much the same trouble myself just now having changed from a mix with no small seeds to one with a lot. At the mo I'm working from day to day, they were bad today, so I gave them a little more than yesterday. Hopefully less 'ravenous' tomorrow.
frank-123 Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 if it gets colder i up the feeding a little
chickadee Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 if it gets colder i up the feeding a little Yes I think ours needs that wee bit more when the nights are getting cold.
ALF Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 1 OZ A DAY PER BIRD IS ALL THEY NEED AS THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING BUT SITTING AROUND THE LOFT AT THIS TIME OF YEAR
majorpet Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 if it gets colder i up the feeding a little of course thats right. majorpet
Brian Smith Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 They may not be racing or training, but young birds are still maturing and all the birds are moulting so the last thing you should do is weigh food, feed them a good moulting mix and watch for them going to the drinker when about half of them have had a drink stop feeding. A good seed mix with the moulting mix will not hurt them.
